Yes I was worried about the hotel scene and how the character would fare, I actually thought it was done well. He's built his dad up on a pedestal into this perfect man and when that all comes tumbling down he lashes out at the person delivering truths he doesn't want to hear (and that she was involved in what happened). Someone that overwhelmingly positive and chipper all the time would very likely have quite an extreme negative side in times of conflict, and I thought they got the balance right, with Sam playing it brilliantly.

This was how to deliver a concert, high energy, great lighting and sound and clearly well-rehearsed. It was Grease 2 by way of Rocky Horror, very self-aware and tongue-in-cheek, laughing at itself and delivering absolute fun. I had no idea there was such a diehard fan base for it but they loved every second of it and made for a great atmosphere.

Sounds like there was a few of us in on Sunday!
This was wonderful, definitely improved since the Northampton run and we'll worth revisiting.
Dougal should be an incredibly irritating character but Sam is just brilliant in this. He's like 80% charm and 20% Andrex puppy. Such a likeable talented guy. Dujonna is also fantastic and their chemistry is a joy. Highly recommended. Seat B5 is also awesome for anyone not wanting to be on the very front row but still masses of legroom with nothing in front of it. Thank you TodayTix Rush!

One of the worst shows I've seen in a long time. I grew up on that catalogue of music but this show is just diabolical and I felt embarrassed for the cast having to deliver it. Jess Daley and Matt Croke are so talented and should be in better shows than this!

My point is that they claimed it was Sold Out yesterday, and tickets were available to buy this morning, but whatever.

They tweeted yesterday to say it was Sold Out! Clearly it wasn't. A lot of the tickets will be comped for press too. Big fibbers!

It's definitely worth seeing, I'm glad I went. It's just in the "good rather than great" category.

I held a door open for Ruby Wax when she came to the theatre I volunteer at. She didn't thank me, look at me or even acknowledge my existence 🤣
But most of the others I've had any interaction with have been fine.

It's a great stage spectacle, it's just a very poor musical 😁

Saw this tonight and very much agree with the review above - definitely didn't hate it, it sounds like the tech has been made much slicker since it opened, and there's a lot to like. But the issues feel rushed and not explored fully in the writing, and the David AI character needs to go, we don't need "comedy" here, it's meant to be a sci-fi thriller! But as a quick-paced 90 minutes of escapism I've seen far worse.

Can someone spoiler-tag the plot please? See the post last night from esteveyb, that pretty much covers it.

Matt will be good, to be fair. He's got that "cheeky chappie swagger" vibe to him and a great voice.

Times were 7.40 to 8.50 and then 9.10 to 10.10. It just felt longer.

It's dreadful.
The first act is a bad American version of Eastenders. The second is a bad version of The Twilight Zone, and more of the soap opera drivel.
You know when you've been single for a long time, and your mates bore you to death with every detail of their tedious love lives and you just want to slap them? This is that. With mostly-forgettable Bryan Adams soft rock songs that are all a minute too long, repeat lyrics endlessly, and contain far too many "aaaaaaaaaaah/"oooooohhh" where they don't actually sing anything.
Bloggers will say the usual "fabulous"/"iconic" nonsense that they say with everything new these days, but this is ONLY (barely) worth seeing for Jamie, Oliver and Rachel (and to be honest I felt even she was miscast, she doesn't read as the "carefree arty bisexual" type).

Jamie hasn't done anything yet! But yes Rachel and Oliver their usual standard.

I'm in tonight, grabbed a £15 front Upper Circle seat earlier today.
The album on Spotify from last year is only 45 minutes so I guess it could be a reasonably earlyish finish unless new material has been added.

The Hippodrome circle was half empty when I went (Thursday 14th). The show was in good shape though.

What are the main script changes since the Palladium days? I've seen it 10 times so you'd think I'd remember, but I'm getting old 🤣 I know "Sweaty Eddie" changed to "Steady Eddie", and Mary Robert's origin being lost when "How I Got The Calling" got replaced, but has much else changed?
I agree it's still fab entertainment, Beverley and Ruth were on top form, and the audience loved it. Also, Deloris now has her own Glinda-bubble! That was fabulous 😁

Bit early for Sister Act’s press night isn’t it? Or was it some sort of gala performance? Editing to say it was press night, just seen Beverley mention it on her socials. Yeah it was press night, it's the same production that's been touring and most of the cast have played it before so I guess it didn't need long for previews 😀

Does anyone know if Press Night is on 21st March? I’m asking because the evening performance starts at 19:00 rather then 19:30? Yes it's the 21st as far as I know, I'm on the list to hopefully review and the 21st is my birthday!
