I went with 5 stars, couldn't fault it. It's more raw than the original production and for me, more powerful because of it. Jaden playing Billy was excellent (had no idea he was Lisa from Steps' son). Sally Ann Triplett was as brilliant as you'd expect. Luke Baker is also distracting attractive.
Loved it. A lot.

Jeremy Jordan is 37. Aaron Tveit mentioned above is 38. Cynthia is 35. This university is going to look like it's filled with students who got held back A LOT 🤣
At this rate next to them, poor Ariana at 29 is going to look like a child prodigy who got bumped up a few years at school, like those geniuses who attend Harvard at 12 🤣

I still find it weird that someone with a supposedly 'scandalacious' reputation does nothing remotely interesting for the entire show 🤣

I'm not convinced Cynthia can do comedy. And I'm still not sold on her playing Elphaba either but happy to be proven wrong when the time comes!

I was fully planning to see this until I saw it was only 60 minutes long. Not really worth the 4-hour round trip journey! Shame.

That will be a big loss, Olly is brilliant in the show. It's a spot-on replica of Michael J Fox's performance, he'll be hard to replace.

For me the music is actually the strongest part of it, it's the characters and story that let it down!

Ariana DeBose might have a decent stab at it as well.

I wonder if they’ll ever make a film of the musical. Could go a bomb with the right star casting. Someone call Jennifer Hudson's people 😁

It sounds like we need a Theatreboard Solos Club! Great to hear so many people not afraid to enjoy theatre on their own.
Agree with everything already said, you have nothing to worry about, just relax and enjoy the spectacle and escapism. And there's a whole community of us that you can talk to about it afterwards as well!

Just out of curiosity, have they included the new songs from the recent film (namely Evermore) or are they sticking to the original song list?

I'd say circle for a more cinematic view, front stalls to really see the detail and skill of the puppetry.

Granted, totally get your point and share your opinion, however just to flag Isaac’s pronouns are they/them, so, respectfully, maybe edit your post to reflect that. Isaac goes by all pronouns (they/he/she) as per the programme and Twitter.

The sound isn't great from the Rousing Circle. The Stalls floor seating is great. Haven't sat in the middle levels.

Is a couple of decent songs enough to count it as a good score though? I thought it lacked any kind of cohesion and identity as to what it was actually aiming to be. I think if any other composer had put it out there, it would've been savaged. It's only really "Far Too Gone" and "I Know I Have A Heart" that have any trace of Webber's signature in them.

Shame this hasn't got more traction on here, I saw it tonight and thought it was great. Fantastic performance from Max, it's not easy to hold such an intimate audience for 75 minutes. Incredible guitar skills, very similar to Seth Lakeman in style. Didn't love every song but I think they all fitted to tell the writer's stories. A nice reminder that a musical can be totally stripped back of spectacle and window dressing and still work.
Use code HEARMEROAR for £15 tickets next week if booked by Sunday 19th.

Maybe time to revert back to saying how dreadful the show was 😁 I still can't decide whether the score, the lyrics, the story or the book took the overall wooden spoon award!

Charing Cross Theatre have cancelled the first week of The Throne due to the strike. Wouldn't be surprised of there do end up being more.

Schedule announced for both days. 1 hour longer on Saturday as normal.
How come Six, Choir Of Man and Magic Mike are on both days?

I saw Alexandra twice, I'd love it to be a new face. Zoe Birkett was meant to be fab and she may be bored of Moulin Rouge by then, so we can hope.

I'm sorry but some of this against Carrie is nonsense, she's worked in theatre for over 2 decades, and I believe she was onstage before her brother was famous! Yes her social media presence needs some editing but to say she hasn't shown in interest in theatre or hasn't worked hard to get where she has is just ridiculous!

Joel can definitely do rock, he was in Myth at The Other Palace a few years ago (the first thing I ever saw him in I think) and he sang that really well.

I think Singin' In The Rain is technically a jukebox musical, a lot of the songs existed prior to the film and they were re-used. That's the oldest one I can think of!
