Oh it is nice to come on here and find other people hated it too
I think the play tried to be too clever, but there was no depth, no character development
I love Emma, if she wasn't in it, I would probably give it a zero stars review
I think having 4/5 stars plastered outside the theatre is meaningless & misleading nowadays
Everyone and their mother seems to have a 5 star review

I saw this last year and this year,
I can't say that it is a better show this time around. 3 stars
To be honest, I was so caught off guard that half of it has been gutted/changed, that I spent most of the performance thinking 'is that a new song/scene or do I just have bad memory'
Victoria was the standout, obviously
I missed the tenderness and fragility of Rosalie Craig's fairy this time around...
Rosalie and Victoria would be a theatre match made in Heaven

This was sensational I thought
Katie Brayben is an absolute powerhouse
The feeling when you leave the theatre & immediately try to listen to the cast recording, and there isn't one.... grrr

Snowflakes need to detach art from reality, Miss Saigon is objectively an amazing musical
In any case, not staging Miss Saigon would rob Asian actors of one of the few dedicated opportunities they get when it comes to theatre. Now that would do more harm than good

Saw this yesterday, day ticket, 4 stars.
The visual effects are outstanding. The music was outstanding. It really made me feel like a child again, a kind of bliss and warmness you don't often experience in the theatre.
I always thought that Totoro was let down by the plot (or lack there of) and this applies too to the show, which recounts the film almost identically.
The pacing is a bit strange as the first act covers about three quarters of the film, which leaves not much for the second act. And so you get a very strong first act, and an okay second act.
One gripe, which is very specific perhaps to me / day seats / sitting in the front row - there is a lot of screaming/shouting in this show lol. I know they are meant to be children, and I know sitting in the front row you hear things a lot louder than most, but really I wanted to cover my ears half the time - I didn't cus I thought it would to be rude lol. If they were my children I would send them to the orphanage like pls can u be quiet what is with all the screaming

I'm wanting to see my first ever opera in the Autumn and had either Salome, Aida or Alcina on my short list. I a not sure which would be the best to see as someone new to it all but am excited by seeing a large production. Any recommendations are welcome as well as general information regarding going to the opera. Tosca at ENO is also on my shortlist. Honestly you're best going to La Boheme or Madam Butterfly if it's going to be your first opera. The ones of have listed are more of a personal taste and may put you off altogether. Tosca is also a great entry opera, but it's ten times better at ROH than ENO.

saw this tonight - 2 stars
The plot is really all over the place, it needs a LOT a LOT of work, but I think there's a good musical somewhere in there.
Somehow we go from interesting bike ride to uninteresting romance to woe-is-me immigrant situation,
it is all very disjointed, pacing is all wrong.
There is a lot of forced (?) drama - scenes that I'm sure are designed to elicit a strong emotional response from the audience (who mostly seemed bored by the halfway mark) - they fall entirely flat.
However, the cast of two are two very talented ladies. Liv Andrusier in particular has a lovely colour and range to her voice - I would love to see her again in something else.
I'm not sure I could recommend this production - if you get a cheap ticket (£20 or under), I guess it is better than sleeping.

I'm sure someone will post a vid of the letter being read out soon
But very much the wrong tone, blaming the failures of the show mostly on covid
(Which cannot be entirely true - does not explain poor ticket sales for Cinderella when many West end shows have been thriving)

It's full original cast, those boards are wrong
Ivano got an incredibly long standing ovation after his solo (well deserved) Probably would've continued on for ages had it not been cut off by the orchestra

This does seem to be getting rave reviews all over the place which is fab. Great to learn about a new gay play particularly when it is so well received. Will look out for the script to add to my collection It really is very intelligently done Was about 70% empty when I went, which is a mighty shame I will be returning at the end of the month to support!

Just wanted to shout-out this incredible show I saw today.
A touching, exquisite LGBT reimagining of Romeo & Juliet. Very cleverly done with a cast of three men - I don't want to give too much away, initially I thought it would be a gender bender Juliet (it's not). Instead it's a behind the scenes look at an untold story of characters from Romeo & Juliet - what Wicked is to the Wizard of Oz, if you will.
The script is incredible, weaving the original Shakespeare with new work seamlessly. Even though I have seen Romeo & Juliet a hundred times, I was caught off guard at times thinking to myself - wait is that a new line or did X say that in the original. :-P
It has changed the way I view Romeo & Juliet now - I'm going to view the events of Starcrossed as canon! :-)
Only on till the end of June - go get a ticket!
5 stars, probably the best thing I've seen so far this year.

Super Trouper noticeably absent
Notes:
1) a sh*tty song to start with 2) get rid of the animated videos, nobody's there to see those

Here now
Arena much smaller than expected
Honestly think there is a good view from all areas of the dancefloor, and even from the £20 cheap seats

I have standing tickets for this is it like a normal concert where you need to get there early for a decent view? Not sure how big the standing space is - if you turn up say 20 mins before will it be ok?

Thought this might be of interest to theatre fans, haven't seen a thread on it yet Charring Cross are doing a month of screenings of musical / theatre films this October Seems to be very reasonable - you can get an unlimited ticket for £30 charingcrosstheatre.co.uk/theatre/stage-screen

Like the other Disney musicals in the west end, it's intended for children - so know what to expect. Be prepared for constant talking from the audience (children) for the whole show.
Sam's voice was great The set for the castle was great Got a day seat for £20 (meant to be £125), so that was also great
Other than that - very low brow & forgettable

Now offering “magic seats” for £30 on TodayTix. Just rush but £5 more so not sure what’s so magic 😂. I did try at exactly 10:00am today, but they were already all allocated. Didn't see any more appear later either. Was anyone successful and, if so, what seats were on offer? I got Dress Circle row B £125 down to £30

Nice to see the shows run has extended already. Will be interesting to see who comes in as Cinderella in a years time… the whole thing has been pushed and based on CHF, not sure who else would work in the role. Patti Lupone

"I'm not sure I've ever known audiences at the Charing Cross Theatre be anything but socially distanced anyway!" Seriously, I don't know if they don't have a marketing budget or whatever, but there are often great shows on at Charring Cross and it's a shame nobody ever sees them. When I mention Charring Cross to some of my friends (who are local Londoners) they have never even heard of it....

Saw this for the 1000th time last night.
Incredible as usual.
The changes are not too large to worry Phantom fans. The most obvious one to me was the set for All I Ask of You (on the roof). Instead of descending from above, the Phantom swings around to centre stage on one of the statues from the roof set.
The cast was great. Carlotta a bit weak on the diction and comedy aspects but with a great singing voice. Christine also great, although as a die-hard Sierra Boggess fan everyone pales in comparison for me.
5/5 - those who have not seen the changes need not worry :-)

On a tangent - sad to see this production at nearly a full house in such a large venue, whilst Pippin (5 stars) plays to a dozen people at Charring Cross
The injustice!

What was that Left at the interval Ah, did the weather hold up tonight? Considered going but forecast was making me doubt the fact it would go ahead. The weather was fine - only a bit of drizzle. Just an awful production. Yikes
