This is right up my street, and will compensate a bit for The Shining not coming (if indeed that's the case -hopefully not!).

Were there any changes for the filmed version? I recall that in the NT Live of Frankenstein they did away with the nudity.

Hopefully this might be a bit more exciting than the Havers & Hodge announcement. I still hope it is a transfer of THE BAND'S VISIT. So do I!

I can't see this lasting the run Seems to be selling reasonably well. They'll not pull it before a tour. Certainly seems to be doing better than Spitting Image which unfortunately appears to be limping along til 26th August.

*On a completely show unrelated note, I also experienced one of the rudest audience encounters in a while when getting to my seat. I was in the front row on the far left, but I'm not familiar with the Garrick so accidentally entered from the right side door and had to cross over to my seat, passing the stage. There was more than enough space for me to walk and no one batted an eyelid, until I got to an older man who decided to extend his feet to touch the stage as I approached, blocking me from walking. It was clearly deliberate, but I politely asked him, "Sorry, can I please get past you" to which he answered "Sorry are you a part of the show? NO". I was slightly taken aback by how unnecessarily rude he was, so just said no I'm just trying to get my seat, then had to walk over his leg, almost losing my balance and falling into the stage. I was there alone tonight and the exchange made me feel really anxious and annoyed as I was waiting for the show to start. I just don't understand why some people go out of their way to be horrible to others, especially since there was about a metre of space between the people at the front and the stage, and he was clearly just trying to make an example of me for entering through the wrong door. Very annoying but don't let that miserable old sod's attitude get to you. I often go on my own and love chatting to people but if anyone is rude and pisses me off, I won't miss and hit the wall.

They’d be foolish not to transfer it… especially as the 2024 men’s euros approach Back to the Olivier next summer (May to August) for the Euros, as predicted by many on here, then to the Gillian Lynne almost straight after for a limited run. Is this what's happening then?

Don't hold your breath for Tammy Faye. (And sometimes posters aren't wrong, but rather things and situations change due to unforeseen events) Is a transfer not going to happen now?

Interesting. I knew they were looking to bring it back and I thought it might follow another Playful show into the Haymarket. I wonder what will go there in September?

Cast change was announced yesterday and 2 existing/returning cast members have mentioned 6 month contracts. The booking period is also only until January, so 6 months. Have they secretly set their closing date of Jan 2024? Would be great to get the Trafalgar back for plays. The programming there used to be pretty varied and interesting. I've missed that.

Oooooh I remember this Decadent production, it was very good. They actor who played the priest in Derry Girls, Peter Campion I think, was Katurian. It was the first time i saw the play and think they got the comic timings spot on. I also remember the dramatisations of the stories being beautifully stark. It's such a twisted, darkly comic play, the directing really is so critical, makes me see how very important good directors are. Totally off topic, but this does not warrent a threat so I do apologize.....Rory will you be able to catch Druid's mammoth staging of all the O Casey Dublin plays this summer when they play the Lyric in Blefast? Or any of the other Irish dates? Hi, yes, hoping to catch as much of the trilogy as I can, although I won't do the full day experience!

Press has started ramping up for this already- Series 21. Start looking out for rumoured contestants. So far I've heard Angela Scanlan and that guy from Ackley Bridge. Apparently, Josie Gibson is being chased by both Strictly and I’m A Celeb, according to today’s papers. Come 'ere, bring it in to me.....

Yes, I thought it was the direction that let it down overall. Personally thought Allen was fine, but the big heavy set added nothing, and so much was stylistically dull. Sometimes the stories were just... read at us, but others were staged in full or partial. The animation in The Little Jesus section was great, I feel that should have been a running design idea for all the stories, even Topolski's, but it was only used on one. Given how imaginative the play itself is I felt the direction consistently lacked the imagination to match. Disappointing to hear this. An Irish theatre company called Decadent staged a quite brilliant version of this play a couple of years ago, which I saw at the Lyric, Belfast, and it was so imaginative (link below). Am kinda sorry I've booked to see this production now. It just all sounds fair to middling when it should have been brilliant. I loved Dunster and Fleischle's production of Hangmen. (Incidentally, Decadent are doing a production of Hangmen at the Gaeity in Dublin soon).

I had hoped The Band's Visit would be coming in. Not sure why I had it in my head that it was linked to the Ambassadors.
Out of the two Private Lives, I would have preferred to have seen the Donmar version come in to town, but hardly anything transfers from there anymore for reasons unknown.

It's obviously booked somewhere already, according to mrbarnaby, and the Almeida only show their own stuff.

So Luke Evans is doing a play later this year in the West End, the only theatres that would be available are Theatre Royal Haymarket, the Duke of York's and the Ambassadors. Or Wyndhams between December and March.

The Lyric is only available for 9-10 weeks which would make it very hard for something like Dear England which has a big cast to come in for a short run. It's now going dark for 13 weeks between Sat 19th August and Sat 18th November (Mischief start on 23rd). So something could in theory go in for a 12 or 13 week run.

Surely there are some plans in place for this to transfer or return? Can't believe it'll just end on 11th August!
