This show just sinks further and further down in my estimations. I've waited 20 years for this. I'm going to keep waiting.

I’m making the trip for the Saturday matinee. Anyone else going? It’s my first time at the Curve so any advice about getting there from the train station and any recommendations for cheap places to eat would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance. Curve is an easy 10 minute walk from the station (if that, although I do have long legs). I rarely eat while I'm out but I'd suggest walking along Granby Street once you exit the station, plenty of eateries along there. Then head right off there and you'll find Curve 😁

John McCrea would be a knockout.

Won't there be an issue for that actress when Nessa needs to stand up and sing her brief Act 2 number?

Literally the only weak link is that Mr Okamoto can't act. At all. He's dreadful. But he's one small weak link in an otherwise epic production. Loved it. Can't stop thinking about it. Amazing. I honestly liked his acting. In fact, I thought all of the acting was great. I am curious why you didn't like his performance? I thought it was spot on. He delivered every line really slowly and over-emphasised every word, he honestly felt like he'd been roped in from a local Am-Dram group!

I think she'll need some serious vocal and acting coaching to give this the respect it deserves and not turn it into some dreadful Drag Race 'acting challenge'.

Great news I guess, but with Divina?! She wasn't exactly amazing in Chicago recently. Oh dear…. Do tell us more! She could act it acceptably but the vocals for Mary Sunshine were well shaky, and I saw her twice (in the same week) so either she was poorly, or just not very good. It was all falsetto though so maybe she's better in a lower range?

Genuinely wouldn't have recognised her!
She's ripped her outfit, bless her 🤣

Maybe they'll close off the cheap levels and upgrade customers the other areas to make the place feel more full, currently you'll hear tumbleweeds in there!

Carly is a superstar!! 😍
And also slightly cheeky to be putting this on the telly after charging people to see it last week at the cinema!

Such a shame there may be more people on stage than there are in the audience! 🤣

Am I right in thinking that the narrative veers quite a long way from that of the musical as it was performed originally? ‘Real Life’ was always one of my favourites on the cd and is filleted to practically nothing in the film. Its like a whole new story has been created to turn it into the story of ‘Rent’ rather than its’ actual self? I really loved it but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I was thinking the same, I saw it in London a couple of years ago and the film felt an entirely different story!!

Exciting!
Random question but worth a shout - I'm reviewing this on press night and they've allocated me two tickets, does anyone want to come along for a freebie? Tuesday 7th December, 7.30pm start. I won't know where the seats are until I get there but they'll be top price. There's no interval so you don't have to talk to me much, and I promise I'm not a murderer... 🤣
Let me know if it's any use to anyone, if not I'll contact them and they can reallocate it.

I am looking at matinee on 16th December and was wondering if there are any deals for it, the cheap tickets don't seem to be the best and on the higher end of my budget. No deals that I've seen but keep an eye on how it's selling, if there's still decent seats the day before you go, chances are you'll be able to get a £25 Rush seat on TodayTix at 10am on the morning of the 16th 😀

I think both levels will offer different experiences - the circle will allow you to take it all in and should feel very cinematic (I'd definitely sit there next time to compare), but there was a certain thrill to being so close to the puppetry. The people in the front row near me certainly loved it. I would say the ends of the front row may be better than central, just because of some scenery which may partially obscure the view briefly at times, but it's certainly an enjoyable and immersive way to experience the show 😁

Being Alive Haha, small world! This is where board members need badges 🤣 That's an interesting comparison to War Horse actually. The puppetry in that was mindblowing but otherwise it left me stone cold, whereas I was engrossed in The Life Of Pi from start to finish. I may be slightly biased towards anything with a tiger in it, to be fair 🐯

It was charming and lovely. Emma was sublime and I'd forgotten just how good Michael Xavier is. I'm also glad they ran straight through without an interval, it didn't need it. Listening to the cast recording now on my train home 😁

Managed to get C25 in the Rush for today's matinee, which is the end of the third row. A great seat for the tall as there's nothing behind you so you don't need to slump down, and sitting up also means you can see the stage-floor projections as well.
Quite simply, it's brilliant. So much more than just the film on stage, it's thrilling, poignant, inventive, magical....honestly one of the best pieces of theatre I've ever seen (and I'm on 700-odd).
The puppetry is stunning, it's beautifully choreographed, and Hiran is just spectacular as Pi. It's an incredibly authentic performance, powerful, at times funny, physically demanding, and he gives his all.
I'm sure the view is fantastic from the circle but equally it felt amazing to be so close to the action, you really feel part of it. The front row ducked a few times as the various animals got a bit playful and fish and turtles swam over their heads. I even had the tiger passing by my shoulder at one point.
No technical hiccups or stops either, the whole thing ran smoothly which is some feat given all of the technical skills on show.
Literally the only weak link is that Mr Okamoto can't act. At all. He's dreadful. But he's one small weak link in an otherwise epic production.
Loved it. Can't stop thinking about it. Amazing.

I don't think they're a troll, I just think they genuinely don't care, which actually may be worse.

Newsies booked into the Troubadour by all accounts. Tickets on sale in December. Been waiting for this transfer for so long! Production at Arts Ed a couple of years back was fabulous, fingers crossed this will be just as good! Someone ensure Jac Yarrow is free, and take my money now.

I also don't understand how someone, who is enough of a theatre fan to be a member of this board, is unwilling to take the most simple of measures to help ensure our theatres can stay open.
Quire frankly, I hope you catch fleas.

If Tilly's out this week, I think Dan next week, and Rhys out in the semi-final.
AJ, John and Rose for the final.
Rose wins.
If I'm right, I get a biscuit 😁
