I quite like that there are two such high profile productions of R&J coming this year. It'll be really interesting to compare the two. Talk about two households both alike in dignity! I'm already planning a Broadway trip to see Sunset again, so I hope I can catch it while I'm there. Please just get Rachel and Tom to do West Side Story. With Ariana DeBose as Anita . She really was evanescent in the film

Has anyone seen this? Is it worth a watch to cleanse the JL version from my mind? The only thing I've learnt from social media posts about it is that the audience seems like it would be insufferable, but I don't know about the production itself. What's with the audience participation warning on some of the seats close to the stage, including a warning that you'll have to stand up?

Would really love to see this come to the West End. It would sell out so quickly. One for the fact its Shakespeare alone and also for the new approach to it with two very popular young actors right now. It's a no brainer. Fingers crossed it can happen.

I’ve seen it. It’s “alright”. I expected to hate every second of it but Kit is so exceptional, it somehow makes the rest of it bearable. Hoping he does a lot more theatre after this because he’s so gifted as a stage actor.

I would love to see this come to the West End too! I would book it like a shot! Do we have any similar spaces to Circle in the Square?

Hearing nothing but praise for Kit Connor - so very much looking forward to see this. To think Joe and Kit have both now smashed their Broadway debuts, they're going to have great careers.

Saw this today and thought it was pretty good - certainly much better than the Jamie Lloyd production! It's definitely a Romeo and Juliet for Gen Z, but I mean that purely observationally and not as a criticism. It took me a few minutes to tune into its wavelength but after that I was sold!
Kit Connor is by far the strongest member of the cast. In my experience (and there are admittedly exceptions to this) Americans tend to struggle a bit with Shakespeare. Can't quite put my finger on what it is but they never quite seem at ease with the sound or rhythm of the language. Contrastingly, Kit seemed totally at home in the role and he carries the whole show. I'd love to see him do some Shakespeare in the West End at some stage.
I do think this would have been better without an interval. There doesn't feel like much of a need for one and it comes so late on that it almost feels like an afterthought. The second act really drags too so they probably would have been better trimming it and performing it straight through.
