I heard that there was some emergency on 44th Street that prevented the full walkaround. How'd you enjoy the show overall? Seeing it on Sunday was actually unplanned—I was on my first-ever Broadway trip last week, and I had already seen Sunset on Wednesday. I wasn’t initially planning to see anything on Sunday, as I had a flight back home in the evening, but couldn’t resist the temptation to see it again, and that was the only time I could squeeze it in (not the best decision, as during the second act I started worrying about making it to the airport on time, which reduced my enjoyment a bit, but oh well). I’m afraid I have nothing particularly interesting to add to the discussion, so I’ll just say that I loved it! Honestly, I’m not sure how I would have felt going in blind, but knowing about the aesthetic and meta aspects beforehand definitely helped me embrace it right from the start. And just how magnificent it all sounds! Thinking of getting that red vinyl now. Unfortunately, I missed it in London (where I usually go to see shows) because at the time, I knew very little about Sunset Boulevard as a show and was kind of skeptical about Nicole doing theatre. Well, was I wrong—I’m now having a hard time imagining anyone else in the role in this particular production. Both she and Tom are incredible. Also, on Wednesday we had Sydney Jones as Betty, and she’s just excellent—such a gorgeous voice!

Saw the show today, and Tom didn’t do his usual full walk outside the theater. He spent most of the time backstage and only came out briefly near the end, joined by the cast. Maybe they decided it was too crowded to do the whole thing. Curious, did he unlock new rooms (lol) or did he just spend more time at each stop- that's a lot of song to get through if he's limited to the backstage route that we've seen already Haha, yep, he did unlock some (kind of) new rooms — I think the sequence during the Entr'acte stayed the same, but instead of venturing outside after, he just went through some other (not particularly exiting) locations that might be the same ones he and Betty go through later. Then he went to the lobby, did “I like the lady” line next to the merch stall and Nicole's poster, and then went outside.

Did you go to Australia specifically to see Sarah in Sunset or were you in Australia anyway? I considered going to Australia to see this, but it’s such a long way to go, so I decided against it. Singapore seems quite tempting though!

Aside from Sydney, has anyone else seen the covers? Curious to hear how Jimin Moon was received as Tom’s cover. Diego Rodriguez is covering for Tom tonight apparently. I really liked the Broadway ensemble and was really impressed by their contributions in the group numbers.

Mandy was absolutely sublime! Her vocals were outstanding and her As If We Never Said Goodbye was the best I’ve heard. Diego as Joe was a delight, excellent vocals, great confidence, I really enjoyed his performance.
Not sure if I’ll get again, maybe if it extends through next summer.
Edit to add - the title number was especially fun last night, I think just obviously we all knew it was Diego’s first time doing it with all the bells and whistles. He stopped by the poster of Tom and blew him a kiss which the audience loved.

As much as I dislike the "dynamic pricing" thing and have been baffled looking at maps of seats for the St. James that reveal seats that weren't there 24 hours ago all of a sudden available hours before curtain, they seem to know what they're doing. Grosses for the week came up and Sunset is up to over $1.7 million for the week (coming in 4th among all shows) www.broadwayworld.com/grosses.cfm

Apparently Patti LuPone has announced she’s going on Wednesday. #GoodLuckEveryone And Tom Francis just said he'll be out for the matinee tomorrow and possibly the evening show...

Was Patti there? Has she "broken her silence?" (As if she's ever silent). Has she "had her say?" Was she too fuming re the abysmal Trump?
So many questions....

Looks like the covers are on again for Tom and Grace. I know from Instagram that Tom is sick. Anyone know about Grace?

Saw them yesterday afternoon and both were sensational - added something new and fresh to what I thought was already a pretty perfectly cast production.

I saw Diego as Artie a few weeks ago and he was really great in that - helped bring something to a role that was often forgettable. Was surprised to see he was Joe's understudy and would definitely like to see him - but having only seen this cast once, I'm definitely not ready for a change yet

As someone observed on BWW: So for the week Nicole Scherzinger was allegedly outed as a Trump supporter then outed by Page Six for wearing a Harris t-shirt, SUNSET BLVD. made $134,498 more week over week.
(** I missed that she had been outed wearing a Harris T-Shirt... Guess all those right wingers will now be boycotting the show right? so so stupid...)

the prices increased so much for february. jesus christ jamie lloyd, i dont wanna go bankrupt Its really crazy seeing how tickets are selling week to week and the prices continue to inch up. The seats I had (row C center orchestra) were $350 - I see them popping up at $399 or 475 if you're getting the VIP package (which from the look of it the day I was there was definitely not worth it).

Had the pleasure of watching the show this evening. Seeing it in New York felt almost surreal after seeing it in London so many times but it was certainly worth the trip. Tom Francis has been off all week with laryngitis but his understudy Diego Andres Rodriguez was outstanding tonight. I believe it's his Broadway debut and I've got no doubt he's got a bright future ahead - a natural leading man. (And in profile he's a dead ringer for a young Jonathan Rhys Meyers.)
Nicole was absolutely sensational as ever. For all the noise there has been online about her recent social media comment, there wasn't even a hint of that in the room. Massive cheers when she first appeared on screen and then on stage, along with massive cheers after each sensational song - plus a standing ovation after As If We Never Said Goodbye. She's actually managed to make the funny stuff even funnier, though the audience did seem to be laughing more in general than the London audience.
Grace Hodgett Young was wonderful as always and David Thaxton was probably the best I've ever heard him in this role. What an outstanding talent! I was disappointed to read when I got back to my hotel room that he's off for the whole of next week, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to see/hear him in this role one last time. (Plus the cast recording!) After the show he had the job of auctioning off a signed ALW cut out which Nicole hugged and smeared with blood upon request. He seemed to enjoy the whole task and managed to get $2k for it!
If I had one criticism - well, observation - it's that the Act 2 opener worked better in London than it does here. It flowed seamlessly in London whereas here it looks great but feels a bit stop-start and more contrived. Big laughs when Diego stopped next to Tom's poster. He was in on the joke though and even gave the poster a kiss, which got another big laugh!
I'm seeing this a couple more times before heading home and am looking forward to each one. Hoping I'll be able to see Tom for at least one more performance though!

Was impressed with how he (and the production in general) made Artie a more notable presence and gave the character much needed depth. Looking forward to getting back in to see this for my second time, but now with the Christmas season picking up - the prices are up and seats are disappearing. Might have to wait till the January lull starts

Hope you get to see it again soon!

"And the money kept rolling in..." oops, wrong show www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/broadway-box-office-sunset-blvd-1236066215/Really exciting to see this continuing to do knock out business. I'm guesstimating that they wanted to get into this type of sweet-spot in terms of weekly grosses hoping that they would meet the weekly operating (I think I heard or read $950,000 a week) and try to pay back the investment of (again, I think I read/heard ) $15 million. With the Christmas Season picking up with the Thanksgiving holiday this coming week, lots of tourists in the city (and I see ticket prices have gone up AGAIN and are selling). Been telling my friends who want to go and see it to book for January/February when things will slow down across the board.
