I believe he said 'a new production of...' but that could mean anything.

There was a video made (not a bootleg) of the show just before it opened at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, just prior to the original London production. It has pretty much the same cast, except for Siobhan McCarthy who plays Genivieve. Alan Armstrong really is wonderful in it.

Great score but somewhat thin book. no one is really that interested in the villagers and their quibbles with each other. Maybe it will be a new version alltogethr. Oh no, don't say that, please. I am interested. One of my favourite songs in the recording is actually "If it wasn't for you". And I love the one about the bread...

I like some of them too, but there's so many of them. Look For The Woman, Luckiest Man in the World, Feminine Companionship could all be cut and make barely a difference to the story. If it wasn't for you is great because it sets up the characters and their relationships. For me, all the hughlights are mostly in Act 1

And, to be honest, I've never seen it staged. I just tend to like villagers (like in Fiddler on the Roof) :-)

So this is being revived next year at the Menier. I wonder who will be cast as the title role and the Baker himself? Hope whoever is cast has the vocal chops to handle ‘Meadowlark’ - that is a tough song and is, arguably, ‘the song’ of the show. Casting thoughts?

Bradley Jaden would make a great Dominique in this.

At Steven Schwartz 75th anniversary concert recently he said it was coming to London this summer and also said he is coming over for Pippin next week so wonder if the announcement will coincide with his visit.

That's a really interesting point! It would be the opportune time to re-announce it officially, I just hope the production hasn't fallen through at all in the wait.
