I’ll be watching as hey, it’s musicals and it’s Mamma Mia, but surely there’s more deserving actors who’ve trained for years, who should be being cast as Sky and Sophie? In the ALW ones I think quite a lot of them had trained hadn't they? A bit series dependent, because the ones in Over The Rainbow were mostly younger, but in the earlier ones some had definitely been to drama schools, and in shows before.

They're not exactly difficult roles to cast so all of the contestants who make it through auditions to the actual series will be quite capable. Judy Cramer's not daft enough to let complete amateurs loose on her wee goldmine.

Would be great if we got, on the heels of this show, a 25th anniversary London cast recording.
There is only one English language cast recording of Mamma Mia! (not soundtrack which is different) which is the original from 1999. Much as I like Siobhan McCarthy as an actress, her vocals as Donna leave much to be desired.

I figure Mazz isn't going anywhere so I'd absolutely take a 25th Anniversary recording of her Donna!

Is Mamma Mia in trouble or something? Not at all. It's been awhile since he second film and it's just a marketing tool to get the show back in the for-fronts of everybody's mind.

Yes, they had pretty much all had training and some (e.g. Lee Mead, Daniel Boys, Rachel Tucker, Sarah Lark) were already working in the industry when they auditioned. The BBC played up the whole 'from Supermarket Checkout to Stage' idea, but the reality is that, particularly in the first two series ('How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' and 'Any Dream Will Do') there was a few weeks between the final of the series and Press Night for the musical, so no time to train someone from scratch. If the audition process is anything like the previous casting shows, a lot of people already in the industry (and recent graduates) will probably audition. I just hope this new series follows the audition format of the BBC shows (i.e. two weeks following the audition process from initial auditions to the final announcement of who has been chosen to go on the live shows) rather than the usual ITV format (endless weeks of audition eps featuring no hopers who are just there for the viewers to point and laugh at). I'm not sure about the panel - Samantha and Amber seem like solid choices, but I'd prefer to have a male MT performer on the panel also, rather than Alan Carr (who I love, but seems like a random choice) and a vocal coach.

The casting directors have been scouting the drama schools for recent grads to put forward for the TV show. They’ve been to Conti, Arts Ed, Mountview.

Should look out for Shirley Valentine I'm going to Skiathos in July, which is one of the Greek Islands where the movie was filmed... I wonder if I'll see any of this going on! I can have a bit of fun with my friends now and drop hints that I might be auditioning

I'm confused with this as it looks like it was all filmed in Greece. So do the judges vote for a winner? As if its already been filmed then you can't have public voting for a winner. And since when did Alan Carr become a musical theatre expert to be able to judge?

And since when did Alan Carr become a musical theatre expert to be able to judge? I can answer the first of the three questions. Definitely filmed in Greece. The other two questions- I have no idea!

For the second I think they must have done — Sam Barks is having a baby very soon so it's not like she can do a weekly show now.

The final two’s for Sky and Sophie have already been decided. I know who some of these people are. That is where the public will decide on the final live show in December.

I'm in 2 minds so far but enjoying the lovely views of Corfu. I worked there in 1979 my first year as a holiday rep. Must have cost a fortune to put this programme together.

If this is the best they could find it's a bit concerning to be quite honest, don't mean to be negative and normally aren't but I don't think I've found one yet I'd actually be excited to see perform on stage in anything.

One of the backing dancers is very hot too which is an added positive lol
I'm enjoying it, but it does all seem a little pointless. Agreed though, scenery is gorgeous.

I follow on of the dancers in IG. Charlie Tatman, curly hair, lovely smile. I think he was associated with Jac Yarrow a while back which is why I followed him. (Well not literally).
