Interesting to see the current tour cast are taking over the West End with a new cast going out on tour.
Wonder if that was always the plan or has happened because they're an especially strong unit.

As requested on The Comedy About a Bank Robbery thread, a list of the casts for the London & UK tour productions of The Play That Goes Wrong.
(NB The programmes have only ever listed 1st covers so I have included 2nd covers where I know them but this is only for some casts. If anyone knows any of the missing ones feel free to add them.)
Cast information for the original fringe production is taken from the 1st edition of the script, as I didn't see the show for the first time until the Trafalgar Studios run.

This is truly incredible, I'm amazed that not only do you know every cast, including the very earliest ones, you also know all of the information about emergency covers. This has made such good reading, and it's really interesting to see the same names cropping up across the various shows.

This has made such good reading, and it's really interesting to see the same names cropping up across the various shows. I'm lucky that I fell for TPTGW back when it was a 1-act play at Trafalger Studios & have seen every UK cast since (apart from the current tour cast as they haven't got round to me yet) so it's much easier for me to compile a list than it would be for someone coming to it later on as not only do I know most of it from being there but I have all the programmes for double-checking. Likewise, many of the emergency covers I either saw when they did the emergency covering or I was told about them around the time. I think there have been more emergency cover incidences but I've only included the ones that I am sure of. I'm rather sketchy on the third cast's year as I only saw them once, due to seeing large amounts of TCAABR at that time. Yes, there have been quite a lot of returnees, which I find lovely as a fan. For instance, I realised when I saw Chris Leask make his Freeboys debut on Friday that it was four years to the week, if not quite the day, since I first saw him with Mischief, in the PPGW tour. I love that you are so passionate about Mischief and have taken the time to gather all this information. Thank you.

Loving the work you've done into collating all the cast information for Mischief Theatre - it's been so interesting to read. The third West End cast were the first ones I saw and made me interested in Mischief Theatre's work.
I saw the new West End cast last week and was impressed. Alastair Kirton got the biggest laughs, and he is probably my favourite Max alongside Dave Hearn. Loved Graham Rooney and Katie Bernstein as well.

I haven't seen the new West End cast but I did see them 3 times when they were the tour cast last year and Alastair Kirton & Graham Rooney, along with Patrick Warner, were the stand-outs for me then.

So the list is already out of date! Add George Haynes to the emergency covers list, he tweeted earlier that he's covering Chris for the tour for a week.

Was an early version of this ever performed at the Edinburgh Fringe? When I saw it on Broadway, it seemed awfully familiar, although the play I saw in Edinburgh was much shorter and the set, of course, was far simpler.

I believe the 1 act version was done at the Edinburgh Pleasance in 2013, after the Trafalgar Studios run. I didn't see it there myself so this is going by what I read a while ago on Mischief's website, which used to have more information about their earlier years.

The Broadway production has just pulled a little surprise. One month before its announced closure, it has announced it will now run all the way through January 2019!

I love how they even turn the Broadway extension into a 'goes wrong'. Their marketing person/team is a genius.

Great news. This is the longest running play on Broadway, the next one is going to be Potter, but that will have to run a lot longer than The Play That Went Wrong to recoup.

It's only the longest running play *currently* on Broadway, once it shutters it's going to have no claim whatsoever to any sort of "longest running" title.

Has anyone sat in box F? How bad is the side view?

They're appealing beacause they're so cheap, anything else decent is twice the price. Thanks, I'll think about it. Can you not see that side at all even if you lean?

I accidentally bought tickets for the evening show this Sunday instead of the afternoon, second row, would anyone be able to use them?

Saw the show for the third time last night. Not sure if there were any understudies on as I don't really know this cast but they were all very good. I feel this show isn't quite as tight as Comedy About a Bank Robbery, there are a few physical comedy sequences that go on a bit too long and moments that are probably funnier on paper than in reality. Then again it could just be this current cast's way of doing things, but on the whole it is very laugh out loud funny. I think it's interesting how freely cast members can move between Mischief shows because every show has a "Dave Hearn role" or a "Charlie Russell role" and if you fit the specifics you can do said role in all of their shows. Had to spend a long time explaining to my friend that the show is always called "The Play That Goes Wrong" and it doesn't become "The Play That Went Wrong" after you've seen it

I think it's interesting how freely cast members can move between Mischief shows because every show has a "Dave Hearn role" or a "Charlie Russell role" and if you fit the specifics you can do said role in all of their shows. You'd think that would be the case but actually if you look at everyone who's been in multiple Mischief shows then it doesn't really work out that way a lot of the time. The Mischief career paths of the many of the members of the PPGW tour cast are particularly interesting (to me at least - most people will probably want to stop reading now!) in that regard.
Matt Cavendish: Max in PPGW > 1st cover Chris/Dennis/Jonathan, 2nd cover Max/Trevor in TPTGW > Dennis for a couple of months in TPTGW > Max in PPGW > cover Chris/Dennis/Jonathan/Max/Trevor TPTGW on Broadway
James Marlowe: Dennis in PPGW > Max in TPTGW Harry Kershaw: Francis, also 1st cover Chris in PPGW > Chris in TPTGW > Chris in PPGW Laurence Pears: Chris in PPGW > Jonathan in TPTGW > Francis in PPGW > Cooper in TCAABR Fred Gray: cover Max/Jonathan/Trevor/Francis/Dennis in PPGW > Trevor in TPTGW, also 2nd cover Dennis/Jonathan > Jonathan in TPTGW, also 2nd cover Robert Chris Leask: Trevor, also 1st cover Robert in PPGW > Trevor in TPTGW, also 2nd cover Robert > Trevor in PPGW > Everyone Else in TCAABR > Robert for a few weeks in TPTGW > Everyone Else, also 1st cover Freeboys in TCAABR Laura Kirman: cover Sanrda/Annie/Lucy in PPGW > Annie in TPTGW
And also a few people who didn't start in that PPGW tour.
Leonard Cook: cover Chris/Dennis/Jonathan/Trevor in TPTGW > Robert in TPTGW > Freeboys in TCAABR Niall Ransome: Dennis in TPTGW > 1st cover Warren/Everyone Else, 2nd cover Cooper in TCAABR > Warren for a couple of months in TCAABR Steven Rostance: cover Freeboys/Cooper/Shuck/Everyone Else in TCAABR > Jonathan in TPTGW George Haynes: 1st cover Chris/Max/Dennis, 2nd cover Robert/Trevor in TPTGW > Max in TPTGW, also 2nd cover Chris > subsequent returns to TPTGW as both Chris & Robert Jack Baldwin - Chris in TPTGW > Shuck in TCAABR Sean Carey: 1st cover Max/Robert/Trevor, 2nd cover Dennis/Jonathan in TPTGW > Sam in TCAABR
In fact the only person I can think of who has appeared in more than one show and only played a single character, excluding some of the original casts, is Sydney Smith as Dennis in first PPGW then TPTGW. Even among the orginal TPTGW cast members Greg Tannahil was cover Robert & Rob Falconer cover Max. I suppose it shows that, while actors are naturally suited more to some roles than others, there are a number of actors who have managed to cover quite a range. Between the two Goes Wrong shows Fred Gray has played every male Cornley character bar Chris! It also shows the versatility of some of the original cast members. I'm thinking particularly of Henry Shields as I can't think of anyone else who's played Chris, certainly as lead, who I can imagine playing also Mitch & vica versa.
