Some kids opinion on what he thinks he saw, ironically followed by "I think if people are educated...". He gives no evidence to what he thinks he saw, it's a judgement not fact. I think the cast would be very bored on stage if they were moving sticks and props around to a load of vocal track. There maybe additional vocal layers tracked underneath to add to the sound (making a 20 people sound like 40 or more).

Sit next to an aisle in the stalls and you’ll hear very clearly the vocals are live!

I saw the show on Tuesday night for the first time and it was good, although I could definitely see the flaws in the piece. My main qualm was that it was basically the exact same script as the film but just padded out.
The cast were brilliant, and the visual scale and spectacle of the set was incredible, but i don’t think it’s one I would see again.

I don't think they mentioned that there would be a queue to join before midday. I got a queue position just under 9000 joining at 11.55.

I think queue positions must have been assigned randomly when booking opened just after midday; I joined at 11:49 and ended up with over 18,000 ahead of me. Seems somewhat unfair, but what can you do.

"Number of users in queue ahead of you: 17534 The queue is paused." I'm guessing that means all the free tickets are gone. I never had a chance. (Opened it again in a private window just to see how many others missed out - 45649.)

A nice idea, doomed to leave many more disappointed than happy. A week of free performances maybe...

There was a big wrap-around in the Evening Standard so I guess that and word of mouth may have done the trick! I wasn't placed any lower than around 4,000 in any browser (dunno whether the queue was random or not, but they should have said the queue would be open before 12pm, by chance I clicked at 11.45 and saw it was open), however, 2,000 free tickets in a theatre that holds 2,100 is very generous indeed so I hope those who were lucky enjoy their treat!!

They also have made a mistake with their times. Advert and online says lines open at 12 midday GMT which is actually 1pm as we are currently BST which is GMT plus 1.

The Queue-it FAQ confirms that places are assigned randomly to people who arrive before the queue opens:

All gone Ended up as number 73. So close and yet so far! I wonder how that worked out; I would have thought if they were giving away 2000 tickets (1950 not including accessible seat and wheelchair spaces), with a maximum of 2 per person, that a starting position in the mid 900s ought to have guaranteed you tickets. Perhaps some of them were "skimmed off" in advance?

I was 400s starting position and we were randomly assigned stalls Y tickets. I am so chuffed.
It does make sense tickets sold out around mid 900s. They were also giving out accessible seats in a separate queue. So mid 900s if most people claimed 2 tickets is about right

Congrats and enjoy!

Didn’t Miss Saigon do a very similar promotion for its anniversary? Given the limited number of tickets, it’s inevitable people will miss out.

Great promo- shame as I clicked on just before 12, and was assigned 20,000 on the Mac, and then 29,000 on my phone. I gave up there and then knowing there was no chance!
I believe the 'queue-it' system is just random when midday hits. In some way unfair for those on first, on the other hand it gives everyone a chance regardless of the time you come online at.

They were also giving out accessible seats in a separate queue. So mid 900s if most people claimed 2 tickets is about right Only 44 accessible seats and 6 wheelchair spaces, so that's still 1950 standard seats (plus "a limited number of standing positions"). If Mark started at under 1000 and ended at 73, that's a maximum of 926 people who got tickets, ahead of him, i.e. a maximum of 1852 tickets - so he should have got in, unless some of the free tickets were pre-allocated.

I applied for access tickets and was able to click the box about 11.50am Had to fill out a form and was told would hear back within 24 hours. Just got e mail saying sorry. So a lot of people also trying for access and there must have been a lot in front of me even that early. I have never actually seen The Lion King. It's one of those shows I'd like to see but always things I want to see more so thought this was the ideal opportinity.

It did seem to go live at about 11.50, by noon (just after my reminder went off!) there were 35,000 ahead of me... My friend got in the queue much earlier but still no luck.
