3 stars from the stage, I think 3 from the bbc too who recommended cutting nessarose. 4 from digital spy and WOS. The BBC review is very strange and quite snooty about it existing at all, calling it ‘self-important’ - also suggesting cutting the disabled character and writing off the themes of racism as being unsubtle feels very tone deaf

I hope it lives up to or exceeds everyone’s expectations. Either way, poll added.

If these actors were cast in the stage production of Wicked would anyone say they are miscast? I know that a stage show and film are different but they are the same characters with the same songs and same storyline. I also know I've not seen it yet but I find it hard to believe. They seem perfectly good fits.
I call bull on that Telegraph review.

Good review here. Says the middle drags the film down a little but otherwise needs to be seen in the cinema

Whilst arguably the cinematic event of the year is on the brink ad everyone (myself included) is in visual awe, take a second to think back approximately 20 years ago where both Wicked and Avenue Q,. were pitted against each other at the Tony Awards and despite Indina belting as high as she could, everyone was stunned over the fact that Avenue Q. won the Tony for Best New Musical.
Now look at what has happened?
Right now, it's more like Avenue who?

There was a funny Avenue Q related moment in the press junkets with Ariana and Cynthia, getting absolutely stunned by Carla Renata who was interviewing them and revealing she played Gary Coleman on Broadway. Starts at about 2:50!

The soundtrack has started to release internationally so naturally it’s now everywhere.

The soundtrack has started to release internationally so naturally it’s now everywhere. It's absolutely fantastic. The orchestrations are unreal! Apparently the soundtrack is the studio recordings while what appears in the film is what was recording live. I'm only on The Wizard and I and the music is truly a journey, I FEEL Elphaba's excitement and drama! I always know Cynthia can sing but I forget that she SING. EDIT: I will say - it feels ever so slightly overproduced for everyone except Cynthia.

I've spoiled this film for myself for the start, sadly, I just couldn't stop! I'm making a promise to myself to not do the same for part two, and go in as blind as possible.

I wonder how they're going to incorporate the Time Dragon? If at all?

The soundtrack out on YouTube so I couldn't resist.
Ariana's Popular is a perfect tribute to Kristen.
Defying Gravity is truly epic. I can't wait to see it. The only the I don't like is Cynthia's riff at the very end of DG, I prefer Idina's cleaner version that doesn't go up and down, but apart from that, it's brilliant.

Isn’t it crazy that despite the film only being released today that already people are taking about Part 2!
And that’s still 12 months away!

Just listened to the soundtrack. After getting chills from the wizard and I I then found myself being disappointed by iconic lines such as “the wizard will see you now!” And “it’s meeeeee!”.

Butterkist have a big stand at Westfield Stratford with an interactive Wicked video screen and giving away bags of popcorn. There are green and pink bags. Chatting to one of the staff I was telling him how I'd worked with Cynthia in the past. I think he was impressed as he gave me a massive green bag of popcorn.
