"These are the people who cast Nicole Scherzinger in a musical. Jesus Christ, I suck, I suck, I suck".

Helen Mirren as Morrible would be great, I think Morrible, The Wizard, Nessarose, Boq and maybe Fiyero could be cast with big names and have Elphaba and Glinda played by people who are either unknown or semi known. Beauty and the Beast showed the potential of how to do a musical with a huge budget and you can bet Universal ain't going to skimp on Wicked. I suspect Dillamond will be motion capture but I think the others could done with makeup and prosthetics. I'm here for Helen Mirren as Morrible! I would rather they took someone who had previously played Elphaba or Glinda on to play the two leading roles though, as oppose to someone like Emma Watson, whose autotuned BATB songs still annoy me, or someone else chosen for their fan base.

I still see Idina as Melena and Kristin as Morrible. Failing that, as a cameo dropping Galinda off Shiz - but I think she'd be a wonderful Morrible. She would be a great Morrible but I think right now she's still a bit young (and way too hot) to play Morrible. I also think it would be a bit criminal if Idina just got a cameo and Kristin got a full role.

X Factor judges are normally confirmed in late May/early June so even if there's nothing officially about the casting, if she's not doing X Factor then it's a pretty big hint, I guess.

Idina as Elphaba's mother, Kristin as the Midwife and Norbert Leo Butz as Elphaba's father would be pretty cool.

it's ridiculous that Nicole will be Elphaba in the MOVIE, it's not reality, she's too old.

Its very random but aside tabloids nothing has been reported and its convenient to be at the same time as xfactor contract negotiations
She would be a strange choice as she cant act, isnt anything exceptional vocally, is too old but mainly isnt really an A list star to sell a movie to make up for all of that.

Nicole has signed up to X Factor again and is reportedly spending the summer working on music with will.i.am.

I really think, if they are gonna star cast, do it for the Supporting roles and keep the two leads as musical theatre stars, preferably ones that have either done the role or have done musical theatre extensively. I think we can pretty much assume Meryl Streep will be Morrible, you can get an aging but legendary older actor to play The Wizard, how about Ian Mckellen or someone to cameo as Doctor Dillamond?

Soon the Wicked London gossip account will be saying Alice Fearn is in talks for Elphaba for this too I remember someone saying recently on twitter that they heard Emma Hatton would be a smart casting choice for Elphaba in the movie... I nearly died. I mean, lets be honest, its a very, very short list of Elphaba's around the world who can pull off the part and are well known enough Internationally to play the role... Kerry Ellis, Willemijn Verkaik, Jennifer DiNoia, The Queen of Green... need I go on??

you can get an aging but legendary older actor to play The Wizard I can imagine David Hyde Pierce or Richard Kind making a good Wizard.

If it does end up being Nicole, I mean, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt as she really was stunning in Cats, and she really can sing. I imagine she will really pull off the dramatic songs in a way we haven't heard them. The only issue being, do we want to hear the songs sung how they are written or in her tone of voice? It would certainly be interesting to watch, but I'd rather she does a tryout in the show itself before they sign her on to do the movie. Maybe a limited stint in the Broadway or West End production to try her out?

How about Joel Gray reprising his role as Wizard in the movie?
Too old?

^ I was just thinking exactly the same
Also what about Jessica Lange for Morrible..? Surely you do need to cast Meryl in every musical....

Literally the fandom will have a meltdown if the big three are cut..... The big three (I'm assuming we are talking about Elphaba's solos?) will not be cut, they wouldn't be that stupid, they are important plot points to set up character, motivations and aims. I imagine that they will get rid of Something Bad, the Finale will probably be re-written too. I imagine they will also add a song to connect Act I and Act II because there is a progression of time over years rather than just a day or two. And I would imagine if they get an A List star as Morrible, they will add a solo number for them. I'd personally also like to see a number for Boq added but I imagine Boq and Dillamond will come out the two who have no solo moments in the film bar a line here and there.

I can see them putting something in where the interval is in the stage show. There's a big 10(?) year gap there. And also making more of Elphaba's early life, growing up with Nessa. I wouldn't be surprised if NOMTW is double the length, making it more about her early life, putting more context to her attitude in the 'no I'm not seasick' lines. I also wouldn't be surprised if the screenplay is entirely different to the script, with minimal resemblance from a word perspective. If Winnie doesn't write the screenplay, the person that does write the screen play will have a borderline impossible job to fit Winnie's book around their own perception of the characters and make the writing merge seamlessly.

The upside, if Meryl does end up playing Morrible, even if the film is crap, least its a guaranteed Oscar nomination.

Winnie is definitely writing the screenplay. Agree though it still could be very different to the Broadway book.
