I guess a basic understanding of the story of Hamlet is useful - as the play dives into rehearsing and discussing it and the characters involved.

I really hope Mark Gatiss gets the Olivier

It was amazing to sit in an audience where everyone was completely enthralled. At the interval there was such a buzz.

No announcement of which I am aware.

You can image it was always the trajectory hoped for but, taking rehearsals into account, they've been at it for pretty well 12-months now.

Gatiss, for example, has done all he can for the awards season, and may be itching to get on with fresh projects. Or not.

It is a cash cow. Has to cross over with or without all the originals, imo.

If would have to wait until next Winter/Spring now as they'll only go over with it to get Tony Awards, and that'll be the window they'll need to get noms/win.

This is showing over multiple days at the cinema. It’s usually one day or maybe two for theatre screenings. They must be expecting a lot of interest.

Great to see this again this evening having seen it at the NT - it's even better at the Noel Coward.

Sublime performances from Gatiss and Flynn (Flynn not being Olivier nominated is just insanity), but I don't see Gatiss winning his category - don't get me wrong I love him in this show, but against Andrew Scott and James Norton I just don't find it quite in the same league (those two are ahead of the other three nominees for me).

Great to see an absolutely packed house, full of famous faces (always the way in the final week of a run with famous folk in it!) - 5 star at the NT, an even stronger 5 stars now.

Saw it today. Can’t say I enjoyed it that much. Set design was simply gorgeous and the relationship between Taylor and Burton well done but I struggled to understand Flynn at times (an actor I’ve enjoyed in many things). Gatiss was great. An emotional performance. And E Taylor was played with shrewd intelligence. Burton as a drunk and sex obsessed. And actually quite nasty. How true this all is who knows. I was quite preoccupied by the discomfort of my seat at times. Never a good sign.

I found the end quotes moving about Hamlet being the the most preformed play with over 200000 actors playing the part. I mean personally I could recite it. Seen it far too many times, did it at school. I was reciting the famous to be or not with Flynn. I can’t really see it’s attraction to actors either. But again I’m hugely over exposed to it.
