My final guess is Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey. Which wonderfully leaves Nadia Fall or Indhu Rubasingham open for the NT!

What’s the connection between them ? Can’t recall that they’ve ever worked together.

Interesting really.
As Artistic Director at Chichester Daniel Evans hasn't made the greatest impact. But then again he had big shoes to fill after Jonathan Church.
And the output Chichester has made was generally better than what the RSC has done in the last 5 years. So I can give Daniel Evans a chance.

Daniel Evans hasn't directed much Shakespeare but he has at least done some. He has acted in a good number.
Plus he knows how to put on a big crowd pleasing show which should help RSC finances if he can find the right musical.
I suspect he has a pretty decent little black book of high profile contacts who might be persuaded to do a season or two.
Tamara Harvey seems to be a new writing specialist. But has broadened her scope in her current role.
I am not hugely enthused by this as a possible leadership pair. But I am very happy to see what they could achieve.
Anything is better than 5 more years of the current mess

i think we still guess as the smoke has not wafted across the Avon until this week.
The joint appointment may work and agree it is better than the mess RSC are in. However is this going to restore company to world leading status...? Think not but at least they can call on contacts to make work unlike the last few years of third raters.
Hear Hamlet opens Swan with EW directing....maybe at last the entire community can play Elsinore in all its forms.
It will be at least a year before new AD's make any season and by then the company may be over.....dont sell your houses yet you two-if it is you who come to RSC.
Anyway-hopeful if not over the moon.

I'm not very familiar with Tamara Harvey's work, but Chichester under Daniel Evans has certainly come out of the pandemic with a lot more flourish than the RSC, and he has experience of being a member of the RSC company when it was still a proper company. Hoping it is true and that the RSC has recognised that they need a new direction, not more of the same.

Hear Hamlet opens Swan with EW directing I wonder who EW will deem acceptable to play Hamlet. Arthur Hughes maybe a logical choice.

Not sure Whyman has the depth to direct Hamlet. No matter who she puts in the lead.

Not sure Whyman has the depth to direct Hamlet. No matter who she puts in the lead. Yeah but who she puts in the lead will be the main point she wants to make, the actual production is secondary. Who do we think for the Chichester job ? It is a nice high-profile one which requires a somewhat populist director rather than a metropolitan miserablist.

Let's hope we don't get the usual RIP RSC posts from the usual suspects. It's quite tedious that people on here are suggesting that a theatre organisation will no longer exist or be destroyed just because they appoint a new AD.

Let's not have someone trying to dictate what can and can't be posted on a discussion forum.
If you don't like what people post, just ignore them or block them.

It won’t be a joint leadership that’s for sure. It’s got to be Harvey. You’re about to find out that you’re wrong.
