This is going to be a very dumb question but would the EBU ever consider a pop up venue of some sort or not feasible? It has happened before, in Copenhagen 2014 they turned a former shipyard into a temporary venue. It worked very well from a TV perspective, but as an audience member it wasn't great, the facilities left something to be desired and it had no public transport so the organisers had to arrange bus shuttles from the centre of the city. It went OK, but I'm not sure the EBU would be up for it again. Someone else down thread mentioned Wembley, the last time that it was in a sports stadium was (coincidentally) in Copenhagen in 2001 in the Parken Stadium which held about 30,000. That had a retractable roof like the Principality in Cardiff which covers the whole pitch (the one at Wembley doesn't). The feedback from the EBU was that they felt that the stadium vibe didn't quite work for the show, and so they tend to prefer arenas which have capacities of between 10k and 20k.

I laughed the other day on a radio phone-in when someone from Sheffield suggested it should be held at The Leadmill to prevent its impending closure. If anyone has ever been to the Leadmill they’ll understand. They were being serious! 😆
I think I’d be happy for Manchester not to get this and wait until the U.K. win it (I can wait!) so we can celebrate this city.
Glasgow, Liverpool…you’re welcome to it.

Liverpool would be fab and very fitting as a city with rich musical history but we have to remember first and foremost this is Ukraine’s year and we are simply providing the venue.
I wonder how tickets will be available - lottery perhaps?

Can Liverpool or Glasgow afford Eurovision with y'all's currency in, how shall I write it, a state of flux?

Well I think it looks like Glasgow. Someone on Twitter had spotted that Olly Murs has released his upcoming tour dates and there’s a show in Liverpool right around the time that the arena would need to be free to prepare for Eurovision. However it’s possible that those tour dates could get moved around.
There’s also someone else claiming that it’s leaked that it’s Liverpool. So looks like we won’t definitely know for sure until the One Show.

Plenty of Twitter users pointing out that Olly Murs has announced a gig at the Liverpool arena for 6 May, that would rule out a May date there given the set-up time required.

I am wondering how the organisers are going to manage this. Normally, the location for a large-scale event is decided years in advance, with specific hotels contracted to the hosts well before rooms go on public sale.
With most accommodation across Merseyside already sold out to Eurovision fans, where are the acts, entourage, journalists, VIPs, etc. going to bed down?
I am fearful that those of us with existing bookings are going to be turfed out.
