Thanks to social media, I finally saw a trailer for "The Music Man" with Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman. After seeing her Reno Sweeney, I'm wondering why she's such a darling. This isn't meant to be a total takedown. She's adept, she does have a beautiful soprano, but I don't see her as being terribly charismatic. Maybe some of you can enlighten me as to what the fuss is all about, in your view???

You’re joking, right?! Sutton oozes charisma! I’ve never seen her perform live, but I would pay any amount to witness the Triple Threat in person. Respectfully, I completely disagree with you.

Maybe some of you can enlighten me as to what the fuss is all about, in your view??? I completely agree. I've seen her in a few things on broadway but got to the point I'd never see her again. To me she is like a stereotypical theatre school graduate, all very capable, polished and great with the fixed smile and 'look at me I'm performing' but no real character or charisma. I haven't seen her live in anything goes but did see the recording and didn't see anything to change my mind. |
