I just thought every comedian in Edinburgh was going to announce that they're doing Strictly as a means to boosting ticket sales for their fringe shows. Never heard of her either.

Representation and access to dance are absolutely important and it is great that Strictly continues to increase opportunities.
I do wonder how this will work from a practical perspective.
How do you get into hold when there is that much of a difference in heights?
Am sure solutions and clever choreography will be found
But will be interesting to see

Hopefully one of the new male dancers will be short. And when it come to lifting, stretching her leg and extending, she'll have to do the best that she can to the best of her ability. She also ticks off two boxes- disability and sporting.

How do you get into hold when there is that much of a difference in heights? You adapt. I have a friend who competes on the amateur student circuit with a partner who is easily a foot taller than her as she is tiny. The leader has to lower their centre of gravity and the pros will no doubt be able to do so. And if Ellie is able to dance in heels she may wear thicker but higher ones (the thicker the heel, the easier it is to balance on it). Plenty of the female pros have adapted to taller celebs.

Also, ballroom teachers will often dance with their students for medal tests and competitions. It's much easier to manage with a taller leader than it is the other way around, as the follower is supposed to stretch anyway. They just use a more open hold so whilst the bodies aren't touching, the follower can still make the right shape with their body. My teacher was a good foot shorter than me so as a follower I was trying to stretch out, whilst slightly squatting down which didn't really work for me, but I passed.

Is it cynical of me to think that he wants to partake to raise his public profile and get his name and face 'seen' and to step away from behind a microphone in a radio station for future television work?

Apart from Luke Goss looks like they announced the best ones first. Last 3 I have never heard of. Must say I got a bit excited this morning when they were giving clues and said there was a Ted Lasso link and I thought they were going to announce Hannah Waddingham so I was very disappointed when someone else came out through the curtain.

I know Ellie Taylor as she's been on Mock the Week and The Mash Report.
Strictly also has two Ellies which is unique, they don't usually have two celebrities that have the same name.

Ellie Taylor can come over as a bit smug at times but she did a good job on Pottery Throwdown
She has very long legs which might help her...

Fluer East just announced.
Smart career move given she has that new film coming out next month with Samantha Barks.
Despite all that hair, I'm expecting dynamic things from her.
