I was hoping so but nothing yet. I need to go to bed, I’ve got a date at lunchtime. How annoying. I think we can all blame Prince Andrew!

I think perhaps somebody’s just being a bit premature. The same person definitely hasn’t updated Chris Whitty’s! I feel like a right loser giving a hoot about this!

I wonder whether there has been some last minute hitch as it is normally out late on 30th December.
Perhaps someone has blotted their copybook and it has only just come to light.

The full list is expected today apparently. Knighthood for Chris Whitty, MBE for Emma Raducanu among the rumours.

Or like when they intended to honour the actor Harry H Corbett but by mistake they put the operator of Sooty Harry Corbett on the list then found the mistake and had to put them both on. How come Ralph Fiennes hasn’t been knighted ? (As far as I know) Has he turned it down ?

All the rumours have been out there I was looking last night to see if they were announced. A name can be pulled quite easily if someone has misbehaved but the honours have usually been confirmed and agreed a few weeks in advance so any controversy should be able to be covered.
I always heard a story from a couple of people many years apart that one of the many honours the Attenborough's received was given to the wrong one. It was marked D. Attenborough and someone thought it was Richard (Dickie) and not David so Dickie received it in error.
But given both were knighted, had CBEs and Dickie became a Lord and David received all the other major honours bar a peerage I somehow doubt it. I've never heard why Sir David wasn't ever offered a peerage or if he declined one as there was already a Lord Attenborough and he didn't weant to cause confusion or out of respect to Lord Dickie.

More prizes for privileged people? Yuk! Ban it for all except ordinary folks who do extraordinary things for charity or whatever 😤

I’ve seen rumours of honours going to the England men’s football team I must have slept through them actually winning anything. When they sink some cans, bang some powder and then stick a lighted flare up their arse in Leicester Square then lets talk but until then they are just a bunch of overpaid losers.

I'm surprised Redgrave accepted it!

I'm surprised Redgrave accepted it! Me too. Also surprised they offered it to her since she’s turned it down in the past.

Fantastic to see Whitty and JVT on this list. Both have worked immensely hard over the past 2 years and have levels of integrity mountains above the government they are advising

Vanessa had accepted CBE in the late 1960's. I know Paul Schofield had accepted CBE and later took a CH but always turned down knighthood as he didn't want prefix in front of his name. Maybe Vanessa will use accepting it for one of her causes or has decided that in her mid 80's to finally have it.
Some people have turned down gongs on numerous occasions, I'm too surprised they keep getting offered them. I would have thought couple of refusals and they be put in a "Will not accept list".

She could have done what Sir David Hare did when he accepted a knighthood from Tony Blair who he disapproved of (at the time) - claimed he was accepting the honour not for himself at all but on behalf of theatre as a whole.

Until the word "Empire" is removed from the name of the honours, I have little time for anyone who chooses to accept one.

I think with honours it is a personal choice or even which PM offers it to a person. Sir Ian McKellan got some negative comments from LGB groups when he accepted his knighthood as it was from a Conservative Gov who had been doing clause 28 etc.
Some BAME people in particular have turned them down due to the word Empire but others have accepted them again it is personal choice often these are people who have been awarded them due to equality work. So you have the issue with the word "Empire" as Craig says above but if people of a BAME background turn them down it means less BAME people recognised so it is a hard one to call.

They're a massive ego-trip for the recipient. It takes a strong mind to quietly reject these state "honours". David Hare and similar are fooling no-one but themselves by claiming they accept an award on behalf of others.

No Judi, you’re the one with the Dame-hood, not the costumes person, the make up person, the lighting or sound person.

Nigella Lawson, one of my favourite people, has quietly turned it down without making a song and dance about it. A class act.
Lumley, who I'd always admired, has started displaying such aggressive patriotism recently it's turning me off. As a child of the empire, I'd expected her to be a little more thoughtful about it.

Joanne was born just after the war and like her her father and grandfather was born in Pakistan and India when the family were in the forces in that area so it would have likely been ingrained on her somewhat. I haven't noticed a particular shift in her attitude but I'll certainly keep a watchout for that Craig.
