Who you’ve seen, treading the boards?
Very subjective thread though.

Dame Angela Lansbury, and I was lucky enough to say hello and shake her hand at the stage door afterwards too.
It was during her stint in Blithe Spirit in London in 2014, and was an unforgettable experience. The audience reaction when she made her entrance on stage was fabulous!

Interesting topic and I agree it’s subjective. I’ve seen Sir Ian McKellen a couple of times on stage and Dame Judi Dench. Personally to me, one of my stage highlights is being lucky enough to have seen one of my favourite actors - Ben Whishaw.

Nicole Kidman & Cate Blanchett as representatives of Hollywood royalty.
The bonus being they had stage presence in spades and gave some of the best performances I have seen and only wish they would tread the boards more often, here’s hoping Nicole Kidman returns soon as it is long overdue.
On the whole I am usually disappointed by star billings and nowadays less inclined to book on just a name, obviously there are some exceptions Mark Rylance, Andrew Scott and Ben Whishaw come to mind but David Tennant has fallen off that list as have been disappointed with his last few West End choices.

Did all of these people live up to expectations? For me they did especially Angela Lansbury and I felt I was watching something iconic. However i didn't have a clue what was going on in Peter and Alice but it was nice seeing Judi Dench perform on stage.

I suppose the biggest name I’ve ever seen in a theatre would be Madonna at the Palladium. You just don’t get much bigger than Madonna no matter how you look at it. That said, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to see some wonderfully talented actors over the years, most that have already been mentioned: Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, Glenn Close, Bradley Cooper, Angela Lansbury, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, John Travolta, Helen Mirren, Michael Gambon etc. This wasn’t in a theatre so I guess it doesn’t count, but I was literally once stood a metre from both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and it took everything I had not to push her out the way and declare my undying love. Wow, what did you see John Travolta in?
