That Charleston was not worth 40. At least one of the lifts was very clunky and some of the early footwork was sloppy.
The Couples Choice was pretty obviously going to score well. But I would have liked more steps and less in the way of lifts.

I thought Johannes was doing the hard work in that dance. John’s great, but Johannes brought it alive.
Surprised by that Charleston score.
I don’t really get the love for Sara. Thought it was stompy (to use a Craig word.)

Motsi should have left the building site 15 minutes earlier, to give her time to change out of her hi-viz.
Miranda Hart isn't as funny as she thinks she is.
The same dance can't score both 4 and 9.
Was that Kara Tointon in Team Tom?
The title is Rose and Giovanni's to lose.

As per the whole series, the scoring was very inconsistent last night.
Rose and Giovanni’s dance had me in tears, they would be such worthy winners of this series. Craig definitely should have given them a 10 but I agree with what they said talking to Claudia - it wasn’t about the scores but sharing Rose’s story.
Yes I noticed Kara Tointon sitting with Giovanna Fletcher.

Can they not Skype him in? Impossible to judge properly over Skype, there is no point.

Can they not Skype him in? I had breakthrough Covid a couple of weeks ago and I was in bed for three days. Even if they could Skype him in, he might not be up to it. Poor Craig. He’s one of the things I look forward to most about the show! Do you think they’ll get a replacement judge?

According to the papers they are trying to find a replacement that fits the musicals theme for this week and Micheal Ball and Elaine Paige are in the running.
I'd rather someone who can actually still judge the dancing properly though so someone like Stephen Mear or Matthew Bourne.

Cynthia Erivo is filling in for Craig on Saturday...
I know it's Musicals week, but I don't recall ever seeing her dance in any role, or that she has any dance experience. Bit of a random choice but clearly she just happened to be free and in London.

It is a strange choice, even with her films and announcement about Wicked I don't think she's a household name still?
I suppose she can judge well on the storytelling and performance aspect of it what with it being such a specific week.

BBC in typical wrong footed fashion will be thinking they have a major coup with Cynthia but 99% of the audience will be thinking “who?”.

I was hoping they would get a dance based musical theatre judge, there are many west end choreographers and experienced dancers out there. Or someone like Matthew Bourne. I know the other judges can judge the dance, but from a ballroom perspective as opposed to a musical theatre setting.
Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing Cynthia, hopefully she will he honest in her critique (she is filling in for Craig after all)

Somebody who has been a contestant and gone on to find success in MT would have been nice, Tom Chambers, Thingy who was a gymnast or Thingy who was in The Wanted maybe? Alexandra Burke? Thingy who went on to do the tv live Sound of Music? There are plenty of them.
As it is the nation will think “wtf?”

Cynthia is an interesting choice, and won't mind a bit of controversy if she doesn't like something. (There's plenty opportunity on musicals week with some really boring or naff song choices as usual. Though Tom Fletcher emoting to On My Own as Eponine might be a hoot!)

Bonnie Langford would have made sense. Years of MT and dance background. Perhaps too likely to gush. But a credible voice.
CE has v little dance experience and that makes it hard to understand

Underwhelming musicals week for me, nothing really stood out as amazing for me and i feel like it was lacking the spectacle of previous musical weeks. Regarding Cynthia, I just don't know what she brought to it? Underwhelming on all counts for me.

I’m a little bit behind the live broadcast but so far Cynthia hasn’t said anything that wasn’t totally banal. At the start when Tess asked what she’d be looking for she said “I’m looking for acting and energy”. We can ALL do that dear, we want you to be looking at the daaaaancing!
Get Craig back 😤

It's such an unfortunate week for Craig to be out because he is the musical theatre leaning judge on the panel and so always think it's kind of his week really. Oh well.

They are having a laugh scoring 40 for Tilly. Wildly overworked. I gave Dan a vote this week. I enjoyed it. Yes, it lacked a little Charleston energy, but way better than he has been.
Tom and Tilly in the bottom 2, Tom to Go.
