Looking at prices for Friday night and i can see why it hasn’t sold well! Does anyone know of any discounts? I got a second row stalls for tonight for £20 but I only wanted a single seat. ATG seem to be reducing the prices of single seats as it gets closer to performance date.

Looking at prices for Friday night and i can see why it hasn’t sold well! Does anyone know of any discounts? There are a fair few discounts for ATG cardholders, I’ve got “summer saver” mid stalls (not weekend)for £25. Normal price £55. Same offer for Friday is £28.50 instead of £57. No discounts for the Saturday shows though. That’s a £30 saving with an ATG card that costs £34 for a year. I said in another thread that despite not being an ATG fan now is a good time to get an ATG card. They’re doing some good offers in order to get bums on seats. Might not be the case when the economy is on a better footing (whoever that might be) but if anyone thinks they’re going to a few ATG shows over the next year it will pay for itself.

I'd totally agree with this. I've seen around 15 shows this year via my ATG card and not paid more than about £25for any of them.

And with the way some of the “big” shows later in the summer are selling I think you’ll continue to do so! For example Dreamgirls and Doubtfire only are showing the usual ATG £10 or £5 off for now, but they’ve barely sold any seats and I think the discounts will start rolling in nearer the time.

Second viewing tonight and just as incredible. Every part of this production is perfect. Stunning lighting, brilliant choreography and the whole cast give their all. Julian deservedly brought the house down again with This Nearly Was Mine- it really is one of the highlights of this production. Even the irritations from the people around me couldn't spoil it (women next to me drinking from bottle of wine throughout, one of them started to film 'Honey Bun' with the flash on full- as we were in the 2nd row of stalls it shone right on the stage) Not sure what was going on with Billis' role as it was played by Dougie Mcmeekin tonight ( not in the programme) yet Pierce Rogan who is usually in the role had speaking parts in the ensemble and as Buzz. I would really love a cast recording of this,I love the new arrangements.

I wish they’d put this in the Palladium instead of Beauty

I wish they’d put this in the Palladium instead of Beauty It wouldn’t sell enough. The discounts on it for Manchester have been crazy, not to mention other seat filling strategies. A 70 year old musical versus a Disney fairytale at the palladium? No brainer.

That's because A/ He's from Sheffield and B/ He's a good 20 years too young for the part.

He's older than Paulo Szot was when he won the Tony, and the same age as Phillip Quast was when he won the Olivier - I think he's fine!

What is Rob Houchen like in this? Any thoughts. Totally overshadowed by aforesaid Mr O. I mean, he’s ok and has a very pleasant voice but he’s physically unimposing and comes off as a bit boring/nerdy.

What is Rob Houchen like in this? Any thoughts. I haven't seen it live but I thought he was a fabulous Cable in the screening - moody, romantic and beautifully sung. I'm very excited to see them all in Dublin in September.

The choreography was superb and brilliantly executed by the cast. Vocals were perfect but would you really expect anything less fron Ovenden, Beck and Houchen. I really thought Rob Houchen played Cable as he was meant to be, he was staid, humorless and unemotional so that his falling in love with Liat was even more powerful. It really is a wonderful, exciting and enjoyable production.

He’s playing a character and plays it well. Unfortunately its a part that doesn’t ‘do’ much short of fall in love and a few heroics. I agree that Julian O was magnificent, but it was Gina Beck who really impressed. The emotional journey she goes on; realising all kinds of unpleasantness about herself, was flawless. I wonder if her performance will evolve now she is a Mum, rather than just pregnant?

Off to see this today and I’m so so excited!! I remember watching the film when I was about 13 and not really understanding the story, but loving the music. It will be incredible to hear this beautiful score in person.

Well the third visit was just as perfect as the other two this week. Gina seemed even stronger in the role last night, she sounded sublime. There is one thing that's puzzled me every time during the comms room scene. At one point someone mentions it's two weeks after the Thanksgiving concert i.e late July. Then when the pilots take the instructions for the raids one of them says "it's two weeks to Christmas, let's finish this".

Gosh this revival is just...knock out.
I gave it five stars when I saw it in Chichester last summer, and it's even better than it was then. It's not afraid of the racism in the story, and it tackles it head on it, consciously but never excusing it. Daniel Evans has done a terrific job here.
Gina Beck is so wonderful as Nellie. It must be so much easier for her doing this now and not being 6 months pregnant - and I can't lie it allows you to invest even more when you can't see her bump quite so visibly. She's fun and then she's heartbreaking and her voice just soars - loved her. Julian Ovenden has the best male voice in musical theatre, and it's no more evident than here. Some Enchanted Evening is delightful, and then This Nearly Was Mine (complete with an option up ending) is arguably the greatest male vocal performance I've ever heard. He's nothing short of sensational, and for me, will take some serious beating for the Olivier (it's early days, but he's that good). I liked Rob Houchen, having missed him in Chich, and he played the scene at the top of Act 2 particularly well - and he obviously has a gorgeous voice. Joanna Ampil is even better than she was in Chichester - what they've done with Bloody Mary in this production is so striking, and the image of her just standing and staring as the soldiers depart the island was really moving.
Great that they're touring the revolve, and the set design is hugely impressive, putting a lot of stuff out at the moment to shame. And it's so brilliant to have a full orchestra out on tour (they're touring a harp for goodness sake!) - for a score like this it makes all the difference.
I'll be back before it leaves Sadlers - it's £10 for under 30s if that's helpful to anyone through the Dance Pass scheme (which is free to join).
I just can't talk highly enough of this production - don't miss it!

Just not manly enough, TBH! though I suspect that it's not appropriate to say things like that anymore?...

Hello, seem to be a few offers around for this now so I’m going to go at some point in the next week I think. Any tips or rows/seats to avoid in the stalls? Thanks for the Seatplan recommendation, I’ve been checking on there too. Thanks in advance!
