Got a great seat at a bargain price for opening night in Manchester, really pleased as I'd wanted to see it in Chichester but didn't fancy the travelling down there I don’t see opening night bargain offers… what did you get?

ATG seem to be pricing this quite reasonably (for a change) - £55 (or £45 for us elderly folk) for an excellent midweek matinee seat at several of the venues. I will wait till Monday to see how they are pricing London, otherwise it may be a trip to Birmingham for me. Quick links at musicalsontour.co.uk/south-pacific-musical/

They’ve just announced they’re making it available to stream again, but only for 24 hours, from 5pm on New Year’s Eve.

Under 30s £10 at Sadlers Wells - you have to sign up to a free dance membership but then £10 tickets appear on the seating plan

Thats a shame. I saw it at Chichester last year and it's a wonderful show with a great cast.

That is a shame. The matinee I’m going to looks quite well sold in the stalls, less so the rest of the theatre. I’m glad I booked my front row seat when they went on sale, but now I think about it I’m sure the stage is pretty high at the Manchester Opera House and if they keep the revolve like in Chichester it’ll presumably be even higher.😐

Nice little video (although I hate them making out that it’s off-the-cuff.)

Thinking of getting tickets for this at Sadler’s Wells, but never been to this venue before and it’s not on Theatre Monkey so after some seat advice! Would front row of the second circle be good if I’m tall enough to see over the rail? Not much else at a decent price that I could find but wondering if there’ll be offers if I hold out a bit longer?!

They had them last year for Singin' in the Rain and they were always readily available

Have a look on Seat Plan as it has a page on there, so it should give an idea of what seats are like. Also, TodayTix has up to 58% off tickets if you haven't already looked on there for a bargain

I remember sitting in the front row up there on a student trip to see Pina Bausch and don’t remember any issue seeing (I’m 6’4”). If I remember rightly we all thought it was a load of old tosh, got hammered in the interval and spent the 2nd half taking turns getting up for the loo; disruptive to the extent of getting mentioned in the Evening Standard review the next day! 😕

Front of the second circle will give you a good view. I often sit there for ballet and dance and love it.

Absolutely loved the opening night performance in Manchester tonight. One of the best productions of South Pacific I've seen. Visually stunning, gorgeous arrangements of all the familiar songs and a brilliant cast. Julian Ovenden as Emilie was mesmerising, he looked gorgeous and his singing sounded beautiful. His rendition of "This Nearly Was Mine" had me in tears and brought the house down. I loved the changes to the Bloody Mary character, where she almost has two personalities. One or two minor teething problems, mainly missed cues on the mics but also the set of Emilie's terrace moved a bit jerkily during the Twin Soliloquies and Gina and Julian both had to hold on tight.
Definitely 5 stars for me. I need to see it again before it moves on.

Poor South Pacific seems to be having a bit of a technically bumpy visit to Manchester......

Crumbs, isn’t Gina Beck lovely? She really is...if the Sadlers Wells run is eligible for Oliviers...she has to get a nomination!

Oh that's GREAT news! I know its early to predict this kind of stuff, but Julian, Gina and Joanna should all be nominated for their performances

Poor South Pacific seems to be having a bit of a technically bumpy visit to Manchester...... what's happened? We were there on Monday night and the revolve was sticking in the heat. There was about a 15 minute delay at the start of the second act but we even had a slight pop up from Daniel Evans, the director, who explained that the heat had affected the revolve. But they got it going again and thank goodness they did! It was just a brilliant show. I would have been heartbroken to have missed the second half. Julian Ovenden singing 'This nearly was mine' was just amazing. Indeed, the quality of the singing across all of the leads and chorus was exceptional. Rob Houchen, Gina Beck and Joanna Amphill were just phenomenal. They are all actors who sing beautifully too - so you really felt the emotion of the songs rather than just a performance. It felt really pacy for such a long show too. Bloody Mary usually gets on my nerves but here she was just excellent and sympathetic. Nothing dragged and the set and lighting were just stunning. This is the best production of South Pacific that I have ever seen - and I have seen a few.

Totally smitten with Julian, I've booked to go back again tonight I hope he's not off!

It's just such a delightful production - I thought the Lincoln Centre production was terrific but it's even better than that. I think Houchen, Ampil, Beck and Ovenden all give superb performances - thrilled to hear the amount of people highlighting This Nearly Was Mine...it's sensational.

I've got a cheap second circle ticket (for Sadler's Wells), won't have a great view but I wanted to go and it was quite expensive. Still, looking forward to this after reading the glowing reviews!
