I was lucky enough to grab a ticket for this when they first went on sale, so I've just come back from a quick trip to NYC to see Hello Dolly on Friday night 28Apr17 I was there then too! Adored the production!

Thanks! I actually just searched for it as soon as I wrote back!
Having seen clips of the original half a million times, and secretly practicing the choreography in my bedroom many a midnight, I can see how it's so faithful to the original, but with a few new details to the choreography. Looks like a lot of fun. Can't wait until I see it next month!

So I've been listening to it. I can't say that I love it. It's well recorded, but I miss that old vintage sound from the older recordings. It's also very banjo-heavy, isn't it? I still prefer the Pearl Bailey recording. Her voice is like butter.

It's nicely done but it lacks energy

I do wonder if recording it live, as some of the Broadway boards are saying, would of impacted it? Because I can imagine the atmosphere of it being live would of been electric!

The atmosphere was absolutely electric when I saw it and it seemed to zip along - no wonder then that this seems rather flat in comparison

The recording is flat I agree with what many are saying.. Needs to be re-recorded with everyone on coffee and red bull jumping up and down!

Well is everyone enjoying the CD, newly delivered. I enjoyed 'Put on Your Sunday Clothes', but heck, as I always new, there are some stinkers in this show - Call on Dolly, It Takes a Woman and so on. It's a shame that our Patricia Routledge never played Dolly, though I have a recording of her somewhere as Irene Molloy. I can't remember who was Dolly, possibly Dora Bryan. OK, here's a question of grammar, and it really doesn't matter, but 'Strut down the street and have your picture took' is grammar clunkily shoehorned to fit a rhyme. As I understand it, you can have your picture taken, and, possibly, someone took your photo but you can not have your picture took. The tense is all over the place. Sorry about the nitpicking.

Wow. If you want a masterclass of what a perfect production of a musical looks like, then this is it, the sets, costumes, everything is divine. Bette had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand. The title number was a riot and got a standing ovation. Loved Gavin so much too.
I waited for about an hour for a cancellation line from 5-6pm - well worth it.

thank you admin, for the reply about 'have your picture took'. I stand corrected, and yes I'm sure Herman did his homework.
