He was a great actor very versatile in his roles, not least of course as Georg. "Oh Georg those mountains are magnificent"! R.I.P

I detest The Sound of Music; but Captain Von Trapp... *sigh*
RIP.

RIP Christopher. I remember watching The Man Who Invented Christmas when it was on in December and thinking then how good Christopher was then and he was 87 when he made it. What a wealth of work he left behind.

It seems from the obituaries he was quite an awkward character. He was a very distinguished stage actor but for years thought film was beneath him and made this quite clear - he famously hated The Sound of Music and disliked the character he played in it. He was also part of the Peter O'Toole/Richard Burton heavy drinking set. Alan Bennett said of him "He was his own worst enemy, but only just".
