Why is The Liar's go to attack to accuse Labour of 'playing politics'? They're politicians. At PMQ's. The problem with this line from Johnson is its supposed to imply that he serious and representing the national interest while his opponents are focusing on trivia. But who in their right mind at this point still thinks Johnson gives a damm about anyone but himself.

He just took a huge 8% off the Universal Credit taper, and the min wage will be £9.50 in April. Everyone who wants it is double jabbed, and anyone over 40 can get a booster. The country is effectively at full employment and wages are rising disproportionately for low paid. People might need to get used to the idea gov this Gov is not overly bothered by what the internet says. In a sense it feels as if Johnson is calling out - what he sees as - the limits of shrieking keyboard jockeys. The Labour Party is another matter, diametrically opposite even.
Quite an interesting time.

I'm thinking a lot about that old adage about pure hatred, because I can't think of anything else to describe how this weeks' developments have made me feel.
That sickening video of Jacob Rees-Mogg joking about how today's party doesn't breach any laws, him and all of his dead-eyed chums just laughing it up knowing that nothing will happen about the fact him and all his mates got together while people were dying literally in their thousands, alone, their families at best allowed to watch them gasp their last over a video call, alone apart from a nurse on a 12 hour shift who might have found time to touch them on the hand or something just in case they could feel it, before going on to the next.
It's a joke to them, they know that nothing bad will ever, ever happen to them, that there are no consequences for them, that the rules only apply to the little people who were stupid enough not to have rich parents who could send them to the right schools. That laughing you hear in the Stratton and Rees-Mogg videos? That's them laughing at *you*, and everyone you know and love, and everyone who has to follow the rules. The utter contempt and arrogance, the determined refusal to take any kind of responsibility or accept any kind of consequences, knowing that the absolute worst that will ever happen to any of them is that they'll be supported in stepping down with dignity into a life of obscene privileges, opportunity and comfort and being paid more than most people will ever earn in a year for a single after-dinner speech.
I cannot believe that even after all this, there are still those out there who will continue to defend these people to the death despite it being perfectly clear just how low the public they're supposed to be serving are on their priority list, the footballification of our public life so ingrained that you feel compelled to support the dignity of your chosen side no matter what. I know nothing will come of this because it never does these days, and I have no idea what any of us are supposed to do about it.

I suspect Boris will limp along for another year before being replaced by Rishi Sunak or Sajid Javid.

I suspect Boris will limp along for another year before being replaced by Rishi Sunak or Sajid Javid. Johnson won't last a year. At this rate, he won't last the week. He cannot go on television again to address the nation from a position of any authority whatsoever.

Press Conference at 6, not that Johnson has any authority whatsoever to be talking to the public, especially today.

Legal requirement to wear masks in theatres from Friday. Let's see how that pans out. It's been a legal requirement to wear them on public transport for a couple of weeks now and still at least 50% don't.

Do as I say not do as I do.
What has happened is dreadful, they have a clandestine parting in HQ, whilst people were dying and other people couldn’t go to loved ones funerals, meanwhile people worrying where their next pay cheque is coming form, especially if they are self employed and employers and have the added worry that their businesses may fail.
Also it is hard to tell shoppers and theatre goers to wear masks, none of us like wearing masks, they are a necessary evil, I cannot wait to ditch mine, but will still wear mine, even if I am told I don’t have to, until I feel comfortable - when you don’t see the staff complying so hard to tell customers to comply.
Unfortunately if you choose not to wear a mask and not get vaccinated and choose to believe something on Aunt Dorothy’s Facebook page and then catch Covid and suffer the consequences, then that one 100% is on you.

Do as I say not do as I do. I expect that over the next few days a few interviewers will be asking pointed "Do the new rules apply to ministers too?" questions.
What's really needed is a government that takes action early. This is shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, bought some tools and learnt how to handle them without the benefit of opposable thumbs, taught itself carpentry, built itself a new stable on the other side of the country, moved in, and raised a family.

Their contempt for the public has always been obvious so I’m a little surprised how much anger there appears to be about this.
Masks have been mandatory in theatres here in Wales since they were allowed to reopen. Would have been much better to have done that in England, and given how unstable the industry has been over the last two years it’s pretty shocking theatres aren’t doing far more. Bar sales won’t help if they have to close again.
It’s disheartening to read so many people on social media saying they’re not going to comply with any further restrictions. It’s the public who will suffer the repercussions of that not Boris and his cronies.

Arguably this is the worst situation for theatres. Kept open - but audience confidence at an all time low and absolutely zero financial provisions if shows have to be cancelled.

Excuse my language, but I am f***ing apoplectic
The Government have now created a situation where if you don't follow the rules you are endangering others but if you do you feel complicit in their lies..

It’s disheartening to read so many people on social media saying they’re not going to comply with any further restrictions. It’s the public who will suffer the repercussions of that not Boris and his cronies. I don't get the logic behind not complying. It's like people in somewhere such as California saying "We're sick of everywhere having to be built to withstand earthquakes. We're not going to do it any more." What do they think the outcome will be?
(And before anyone chips in with the obvious, yes, I know you're fed up with it. We're all fed up with it. But resisting doesn't make the problem go away. It makes it worse, including for you. This is a fight you can't win. All you can do is lose harder.)
The Government have now created a situation where if you don't follow the rules you are endangering others but if you do you feel complicit in their lies.. If you follow the rules then it means you're not taking the government as your role models. I'm going to do the right thing because I'm a better person than Boris Johnson.

I just noticed that it's exactly a year since the very first person was vaccinated. That was when we were all optimistic, not realising how many people would see it all as a plot and refuse to take it.

Their contempt for the public has always been obvious so I’m a little surprised how much anger there appears to be about this. That's why I'm not angry about it. I assume that politicians, irrespective of party, are highly likely to be a bunch of self-serving liars, so when there's yet another news story that shows that they are, well, that's just what I expected. I'm far more annoyed at ordinary people using politicians' behaviour as an excuse not to follow rules themselves. I just noticed that it's exactly a year since the very first person was vaccinated. That was when we were all optimistic, not realising how many people would see it all as a plot and refuse to take it. I was optimistic because I hoped that once vaccinated one would be safe from catching covid. Unfortunately that's turned out not to be the case so I'm still living in perpetual fear of catching it despite having had 2 jabs & awaiting the 3rd.

That was when we were all optimistic, not realising how many people would see it all as a plot and refuse to take it. I would be interested to see if we see a lockdown on the unvaccinated like they have in other countries. I think they need to push the oral antivirals to those who need it once they become widely available, having that second layer of defence could be key for future outbreaks
