Couple of big shout outs for the BBC.
Dame Norton's tux doesn't fit very well.
So glad Miranda Hart didn't win. Am I the only person who finds her totally unfunny?

Close up of Sheridan in the audience wolf whistling a winner with two fingers in her gob.
Attractive.

Graham's significant other needs to drop a word about the beard.
"Well... You've given it a go, love... How's about... Shaving it off?"
We've had a laugh. Now enough's enough.
(Dare I say I once found him a tincey wincey bit attractive... but that beard makes me feel a bit... ashamed to say it.)
I'm only watching for its nod to my Lovely Victoria Wood.

I think he's single at the mo isn't he? That hipster he was seeing who made him grow the beard buggered off ages ago.

I sat and saluted all those wonderful people whose names I have grown up with...

Keith Lemon's man bun. No. But Aidan Turner's? Yes. Oh Yes. And another Oh Yes for good measure.

I loved his dig at Sheridan Smith:
"So let's get started, because the sooner we begin, the sooner we can have a couple of drinks.
"Or, as they say in theatrical circles, a couple of glasses of technical difficulties."

"Or, as they say in theatrical circles, a couple of glasses of technical difficulties." It was a funny line but a bit near the knuckle I thought and a bit different from the rest of the tone of the show, especially as Sheridan was sat right there (I don't recall seeing a shot of her laughing along). A friend messaged me right after that comment to say "so the rumours must be true then" . . .

I was surprised during the Obit section that there was nothing about Alan Rickman as I first became aware of him with his portrayal of Obadiah Slope in "The Barchester Chronicles."

Was he in the Film Awards in memorium instead? I'm sure when there was all of the fuss when Bob Hoskins died that BAFTA said they only feature someone once. So if Alan was in the film version, he wouldn't have been shown in the TV one. I guess he was more well known for film than TV too.

Bafta must have been getting a bit of stick about it because they tweeted to say that they included Alan in the Film Awards in February so that's why he wasn't in this one. I love The Barchester Chronicles, will have to fish out the dvd and watch it again.

Theatre people would but this audience was largely TV personalities, so unless they are up with West End gossip, or read the rags, it would have gone over their heads along with the rest of Graham's nonsense. (And let's face it, he's no stranger to being unfit for work. Didn't he go AWOL a while back?)

To be fair to whoever wrote the line, the 'glasses of technical difficulties' technically works whether the rumours were true or not. So it's not necessarily a vicious jibe...
But yes, I agree a lot of the TV people might not get the joke (however it was intended) if they don't take an interest in theatre/read the red-tops.

It's a tiny industry, though, and very gossipy. Maybe reality show people or TV writers wouldn't know, but certainly actors would.

Seems like Sheridan is losing the plot again. No tweets for a whilst & not she's accusing the press of bullying her.

Have you seen the press coverage this morning, though? They're literally picking on her for briefly looking disappointed she didn't win and then smiling, clapping and whistling the winner.
I mean, it's any excuse to have a go, at this point.

That did look dead rough though. Can't the woman have a bit of decorum?

Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. If it's not the press, apparently it's going to be us. Poor Sheridan.

I don't agree. She's damned BECAUSE she does. Millions of actresses get through life perfectly nicely without embarassing themselves on Twitter, swearing, getting rat-arsed and acting like complete chavs at awards ceremonies.

She's one of few very genuine down to earth people of her level of fame. She doesn't hide behind agents and management but the downside is this means that wearing her heart on her sleeve leaves her exposed to the gutter press and their desperate headlines
