Wow that’s exciting. I never saw it but is one actor as Frank stronger than the other? Not to put either against each other, they’re both wonderful actors, just wondered if there is a ‘best’ combination of roles? I saw this ages ago as part of NT Live (twice, actually, as someone in a small local cinema had the brilliant idea to re-stream it after a few years, over the Halloween weekend!) and thought Cumberbatch was stronger as Dr. Frankenstein and Miller as the Creature. I thought Miller was better at physically conveying the Creature's emotions somehow, but some might disagree. I am so looking forward to seeing it again, in both versions, though!

I booked twice so I could see both versions, then JLM was off the night he was supposed to play the creature so Cumby took over that role and the understudy played Frankenstein. So I wound up seeing Cumby’s creature twice, which is fine, but glad to finally have the opportunity to see it the other way round.

I tried to watch Treasure Island last night but I am afraid I gave up after 20 minutes. My attention span with plays is not good at the best of times but my brain currently is allover the place so I just couldn't get into it. I am sure the sets were amazing as the play went on. Unless something really grips me at the moment I am tending to watch things that last about 30 minutes. Currently watching Schitts Creek on Netflix which is amusing and short.

Can't wait for Frankenstein! I loathed Anthony & Cleopatra though so will give it a miss.

Might give A&C another chance - still not entirely sure whether I hated it because I had a migraine or just hated it.

I thought it was a good production, but I really hate the play. We had to do it at school and again at university and I thought, then, maybe it's a play you 'get' more when you're a older, like King Lear or Middlemarch, but I'm older now and still think it's a dog's dinner.

I thought the production was great, but I didn't like the play or any of the performances.

Enobarbus’s speech from Act 2,Scene 2 helped get me into Uni as I chose it for my Classics monologue(adapted) Looking forward to seeing this and Frankenstein. Well done to the NT for releasing so many wonderful shows👏

Fingers crossed the Southwark Playhouse decide to stream Benjamin Button, Fiver, Once On This Island, Side Show or The Rink 🤞 or any of their older stuff from before I started visiting them!

Saw the NT Live’s Twelfth Night last night and absolutely loved it. If there’s one thing this lockdown has given me it’s really reintroduced me to Shakespeare. Between this and watching the Tate/Tennant Much Ado last week and the Globe’s Taming of the Shrew on DVD it’s really taken me back to my school days studying them and left me wondering why I avoided them since. Brilliant.
Tamsin was obviously brilliant, but a wonderful company in general and beautifully staged. Might even wear some yellow tights today.

The Sondheim at 90 concert on YouTube and Broadway.com will be able to watch after the event, you won't have to stay up all night!

I'm assuming someone will post a link?
The wonderful thing about concerts such as these are, apart from honouring the great man himself, is raising the awareness levels of so many 'muggles' who had no idea that this particular actor/actress could sing.

I wonder if we’ll eventually see the Rory Kinnear/Adrian Lester Othello and possibly SRB’s King Lear.

I remember seeing the NT Frankenstein on the very first preview performance, bonus on my birthday, and I still can't get it out of my head even now. Really looking forward to seeing both variations again.

Lyric Hammersmith: A Doll's House
Screening: 20-May from 2.30pm
We'll be announcing full details soon, but wanted you - our subscribers – to be the first to know that on the 20 May a recorded performance of Tanika Gupta's version of Ibsen's A Doll's House will be made available to watch free of charge on our YouTube channel.
A Doll's House was our hit show from last year, and Rachel's first as Artistic Director of the Lyric. It played to packed houses and glowing reviews, and now you have the chance to watch it at home and bring a little bit of the Lyric into your living room.
Really liked this and glad to have the opportunity to revisit. The setting in India with Nora married to an Englishman amplified the choice she makes which would leave her unable to inhabit her previous / current life most probably more than the original setting.

A message from our friend TheatreMonkey on his Twitter feed, glad to know he is still active and continues to have is finger on the pulse of all things Theatre. David Morrissey, Denise Gough, Jenna Coleman, Ed Stoppard and Maggie Service headline Tom Stoppard’s ‘ A Separate Peace’ First ‘The Remote Read’ play in a live-streamed virtual series raising money for charity. Saturday 2nd May 2020 at 7pm. t.co/lOQCBIf8BQBehind a paywall, indicative of things to come maybe, in this instance for charity but at some point the creators of what we are streaming will need recompense.

This is a bit different, but I thought I'd share anyway. The Zagreb Youth Theatre, a Croatian theatre company, will be streaming their production of 'Hamlet' directed by Oliver Frljić tomorrow from 7PM UK time, on their YouTube channel. (It doesn't say for this production specifically, but these limited streams are usually available until noon the next day.) Frljić is a pretty important name in East European theatre, and quite a controversial name in Croatia. He also featured in Matt Trueman's selection of the 'hottest European theatre directors' in The Guardian in 2018. I've seen the play a long time ago, and remember it as pretty good. Judging by the previous streams they've done, it should come with English subtitles. (I asked them on Twitter, and am still waiting for a definite reply, which might never come because the last time I wanted to share something with you, which was terrific, nobody replied - but the subtitles turned out to be there. So it's a chance I am willing to take, and apologise sincerely to you all if that ends up not being the case this time.)

I just learned that Cypress Avenue is streaming for one more day. Is it worth watching as a play or just for a Stephen Rea performance.
