Why is discussing sexuality even a thing...is this really 2020? Feels like the 70’s...the 1870’s!! Just scurrilous and rather sordid nudge nudge wink wink gossip. What PS does is his business and no-one else’s. Supreme irony is that The Sun newspaper has called PS ‘brave’ for coming out...bet he’s overjoyed at their support...not! Never been a PS fan per se,but wish him well for the future.

Phil's on a lucrative golden handcuffs deal with ITV so returning to musical theatre won't be happening anytime soon. Plus the money he makes from TV would dwarf what he could make on the stage and throw in his We Buy Any Car adverts which are down to him being a visible TV presence.

ITV have played a blinder today. They stage managed the This Morning interview brilliantly, bringing on Ruth and Eamonn has ended the feud rumours (which to be honest seemed pretty legit), have made him more sympathetic and made it very difficult for anyone to say anything against him or the show.
Good luck to him I hope he, and more importantly his family, are able to move on and have a healthy and happy relationship

He's categorically said that he hasn't been forced into making the announcement, but how true that is... I've just had chance to watch his interview in full and to see him say this was reassuring as if there is this rumoured tension with others on the team then someone may have "threatened" to out him if heated words were ever exchanged. But if someone did this then their career might be over. On a lighter note, I wonder when him and Holly planned to make the announcement as they both had to go into the studio today and Holly was fully made up. If it had been a last minute call to her, she might have rolled up looking like Tracey Brabin in the Commons on Monday if she'd been on the lash.

He is a high profile presenter and he chose to make this announcement. Like if a well known person gets engaged, has issues - such as Ant a couple of years back it's news.

Ah yes, speaking of Ant & Dec...
Allegedly The Sun had a story they were going to run on PS this coming Sunday.

Ah yes, speaking of Ant & Dec... Allegedly The Sun had a story they were going to run on PS this coming Sunday. The funny thing is I am way more interested in the shady journalism of The Sun than I am in PS’s private life. If there was a story I’d love to know what it was - what the spin was going to be - and how they obtained it. There’s been some notably dodgy stories turning up since the guy who got done for phone hacking was released from prison - makes me wonder if they are up to their old NOTW tricks.

Imagine the pressure of having to hide your sexuality from everyone (including yourself) while living in the public eye. So much repression can't be good for your mental health. So I feel it's rather sad that PS has had to wait until now to feel ready to be open. Hopefully things will be easier for him now, the fear is always worse than the reality.
The Gordon the Gopher #metoo GIFs have been kinda hilarious.

The Gordon the Gopher #metoo GIFs have been kinda hilarious. Funny Gordon jokes along as they don't go into gay sex rumours are funny. I always remember when Andy Peters and Edd the Duck came on i9n skull caps to You Sexy Thing once.

Also I hope that Schofe's wife Steph is okay over all of this an the media spotlight she will be under. She was a TV presenter briefly in her earlier days but has lead a low key existence alongside Phillip. He may feature her occasionally or talk about his girls who are both grown up now but he managed to keep his public and private life apart and his family out of the spotlight.
Will him and Steph continue living together, will they divorce and potentially live together as friends or just stay nominally married. His net worth is said to be about £10 million which I would find conservative given his annual ITV salary is over £1 million per year. Throw in his advert endorsements and voiceover/corporate work and he must be making near to a million a year net.
Don't forget he was on over 10k a week for Joseph nearly 28 ago and he was worked continuously in TV for pretty well 35 years and apparently made a load in PAs back in his pin up days. Plus he's never seems to be a person who would waste money. I could imagine him being very generous but not splashing out stupid amounts on cars or clothes etc.
If he and Steph did decide to split I'm sure he'll give her a very generous settlement and I think it would be an amicable split.
Lets continue to support Schofe but also spare a thought for Steph.
DOI will be interesting tomorrow as I'd bet Barrowman or H will say some words of support.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Phil decides to take a break from This Morning to sort things out.

I really hope this was all genuine and his hand wasnt forced by a coming news piece from the gutter press There is Twitter speculation that a This Morning researcher was threatening a kiss and tell. But Twitter is hardly reliable

But Twitter is hardly reliable Really hope this isn't true. I can understand he'd confide in Holly and obviously the Programme Editor/Producer would need to know if time was being given over to him on Friday's show. But over all the years I've never heard rumours about his sexuality. I can remember when Gorden Kaye was going to be outed by a tabloid but did a reveal with another paper to spoil the story.

Oh completely, maybe via possible press story but I also think to deflect attention from the bullying claims that weren't going away. It all feels very PR/crisis management regardless.

Interview with The Sun on Sunday today - hmmmm.
Does make me wonder if a deal was struck.

I do wonder in this supposedly enlightened day & age who actually cares? At work a couple of (older) people came back from break and announced to the team what had happened. There was a muted ‘bothered’ type response and everyone got on with their day....I just don’t feel its any of my business. I don’t know the guy or his family so it has no bearing on my life. I sympathise for the life he feels he had to hide, and for the pain it may have caused his family but surely thats just human empathy? The less attention that sensational stories like this are given the better.

It's really tricky - on the one hand, it's nobody else's business and it's 2020, it shouldn't matter. But on the other, we still don't have any out gay premiership footballers, or Hollywood A-Listers, and people are still being beaten up on the streets for being gay, so equally I do feel it's still important for visibility when someone high profile comes out. Also if Phillip's bravery helps anyone watching to deal with it themselves and be happier in their own lives then it can only be a good thing. I know for me, if there had been more visibility and representation on primetime telly, it would've made me feel better! 😀

But did he not say anything out of respect for his wife and children, or was he making such good money he didn't want to potentially upset the apple cart?
I presume both but literally have no idea.

Very true. But equally, seeing famous people come out can be really inspiring to other people. Tom Daley was inundated with messages from people saying how much his coming out video helped them. I completely agree it should be purely down to the individual how/when/if they come out, but it can also be very helpful to others in terms of visibility and representation.

Enough famous people have come out already, there is more than enough 'visibility'. But I don't really mean his coming out, I mean his finances, career and relationship with his wife and children. These are things that are absolutely none of the publics business x

Certain fields are well represented (fashion, music, TV and theatre), but there is a long way to go in others (Hollywood, sports, politics...)
