Some clips from the sitzprobe here. Beanie hasn't got the strongest voice, hope she's learned some good techniques for preserving it for an entire run.

I’d say similar vocal ability to Sheridan. Sheridan was already the nation’s sweetheart going into the show though (and knocked the acting out of the park of course) so I think it’s going to be harder for Beanie.

A clip of her singing Parade has already found its way onto twitter. She's got a sweet, young sounding voice but definitely not a powerhouse like some people might be wanting as that song has now become such a showy staple for belters etc. I'll be interested to hear how she matures into the role.
Definitely agree that Sheridan had that edge of people really being on her side before she started, plus good acting chops. Beanie is a lovely actor on screen in mostly small-scale movies, but I'm not sure how that will translate on stage in such a huge role. Lot of pressure! I wish her well.

I saw the matinee today and whilst I did enjoy it, I was left feeling disappointed and wanting more. I have seen the show once before (with Sheridan at the Chocolate Factory) and remember liking it, but not loving it there. Act two in particular I found lacked any momentum after a fairly busy first act. The main issue with this production is Beanies vocals. She just doesn’t have the power behind her voice to sing these big numbers. Yes she acts her socks off, but really, you need the vocals to go with that. I don’t remember this being an issue for Sheridan. Of the other cast members, very good - Ramin is wasted here but makes the most of it. Jared Grimes has an amazing tap solo, and Jane Lynch is… well, Jane Lynch (in a good way) - great to see her on stage.

Original producers of this show were her (Beanie Feldstein - lead) dad, Jonah Hill (her brother) and Ben Platt's dad.
She is dating Ben Platt.
......
Is this true?

Men don't have to be straight to date women. Bisexual people exist. (Not to say I think they are dating - I really don't care. But it's not exactly impossible on those grounds.)

But I still take issue with the general insinuation (not by you, I know) that only straight men date women.

She did go to high school with Platt though, and his dad is a producer bigwig.

Jules Styne's score is a like a decathlon for any singer attempting to play Fanny Brice. Once he'd heard Streisand's vocal abilities he made it so tricky it put off Anne Bancroft and Carol Burnett from accepting the role (though I'd love to see what Carol could've done with it). Without an actress who can master all of those songs with ease you don't have a show, because the rest of it is very weak indeed.

According to Playbill, both Beanie F and Jane L will be leaving the show on Sept 25th. Despite saying that replacement cast will be announced soon, I wonder if this first announcement is a precursor to an announcement that the show closing on Sept 25th too?

The show won’t close in September. It’s selling very well and even with Beanie out last week, their numbers were still fantastic. There’s no way they’d close a show it took millions of dollars to put up.

There’s a rumour going round that Beanie is being replaced.
With Lea Michele…
(Don’t shoot the messenger)
Thoughts? 😬

Will Lea Michele finally get her chance at playing Fanny or is she above replacing?

If it’s true it’s genius casting. About the only thing that could possibly get me back to see this production.

I'm due to be in New York that week and might just spring for a ticket if this is true. I'd never have gone near it with Beanie.

If it is Lea then theatre twitter will explode.
If it isn’t Lea then theatre twitter will explode.
Either way it’s going to be interesting to see the announcement and the reactions to it.

I did wonder whether she was quitting early because she can't stand to be there while her replacement is rehearsed. Not sure how much they'd run into each other, though.
