I think that’s a bit too progressive for the Old Vic!

I don't think a lot of people would know him from name alone but they'd soon recognise him I think. Glee was pretty big and it had the reach into the non-MT-crowd as well.

For the Witch, I wouldn't mind seeing Frances Ruffelle taking on the role. I don't know why, but I can somehow see her in the role.
As for the Baker, hear me out, but I can see Arthur Darvill in the role. He has a history of appearing in musicals and he really fits the part in my eyes.

This needs a big voice.

He's the best thing in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (apart from Skylar Astin's smile) and he was also great in the Once On This Island bootleg I saw. We also need to cast two hot princes. Priorities, people! 😉🤣 He was excellent in Once on This Island, would love him to come to London! Also someone should transform the Young Vic back into the round, get a few bags of sand and a couple of goats, hire Alex and Hailey Kilgore and put that whole production on over here. It was stunning.

Wishful thinking on my end and probably will be unlikely, but it would be lovely to see Bernadette Peters reprise her role as the Witch for this production. I know, probably won't happen, but a man can dream.

I love Bernadette and it would be great considering she hasnt aged, but I think she's too old now!

Bernadette is iconic in that role but her voice is shot now, listening to her sing this score wouldn't be very easy on the ears!

Adele Anderson played the Witch in the past. Probably too old to do it again but would have been an interesting choice.

Bernadette is iconic in that role but her voice is shot now, listening to her sing this score wouldn't be very easy on the ears! Considering the co-producers got Dove Cameron and Renée Fleming to the UK for Light in the Piazza, anything is possible!

I saw her in concert a couple of years back, and watched the bootleg of Hello Dolly and her voice is in fine shape (not quite a soaring at the 80s but she's doing fine). But I don't think I need to see a 70+ year old Witch, however iconic the performer.

Admittedly I'm only basing it solely on her recent role in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, but she doesn't sound good on that. Maybe it's just that the songs don't suit her.
But definitely, we need a younger witch and for someone to put a fresh spin on it.

Not saying she should reprise her role, as in theatre it doesn’t work turning the clock back. But I thought Hannah Waddingham was fantastic in the open air production.

I always thought Hannah was too young at the time, so she's now a better age to do it (and we know she's fantastic at it too!)

I would love to see Laura Michelle Kelly as Mrs Baker. What about Ruthie Henshall as the Witch?

Get Idina over! Proven track record in playing witchy types! And with a track record of being pitchy too.... that Tony Award performance... 😬 And Re Bernadette, I saw her at the Festival Hall a few years back and its fair to say she wasn't sounding great. She couldnt sing it and doubt she would do 8 perfs a week at her age.

What does everyone think the set will look like? It's being done by Jon Bausor, whose worked on 'Bat Out of Hell' and 'The Grinning Man'.

They'd be missing a trick if they didn't use Cupid's foot for when the Giant's Wife attacks!
