My favourite UK show is back next week!
Who's ready for some drama, hilarious one liners and candidates making a fool of themselves?

Cannot wait! Don’t know if any of them will match up to Elizabeth from last year though.

So far I hate basically all of them but that happens every year!

{Spoiler - click to view} Glad fish lips went, couldn't stand her.
But then, I can't stand any of them, so... Also I cringed so hard when the boys tried to ask about the "octopus" with a 40" hose that my face nearly caved in.

They seem to try to find worse candidates than the previous year and have succeeded beyond their wildest expectations.
I wouldn't employ any of them as a Saturday kid let alone invest in them.
Numpties the lot of them

I haven’t watched the last few seasons but it sounds like they’ve gone down the route of choosing people who they can easily make look stupid, rather than the original intention of the show which was to simulate business scenarios and fine a genuine entrepreneur.
The dumbing down of the bbc continues.

I've watched every series since about 2010 but I think this one is definitely my favourite. My favourite task of all time is the shopping channel one which they haven't done in about 8 years I think, yet they're doing it this week! SO excited.

I am gutted they stopped doing the shopping channel task, that was always my favourite. I am a very happy bunny this week.

So pleased to see the back of her....
She talked herself out of contention by bragging...

Well the best line of the interviews this year has to be "Is Australia in Asia?" Also that exchange over whether he wrote the lie on the amazon page or not.
I'm still lost for words over some of the branding for the "nut milk"...

He's moaning that was edited to make him look bad. His geography teacher should be sacked, though. Was oddly disappointed by the whole lot of them last night. Sian's "I got no help, you did" in the boardroom really turned me off her - and I'd been thinking hers was the most viable plan of the two, and that was saying a lot. Sabrina's business set-up sounded like amateur hour and I wish she was a bit older with more experience before she applied as she had some potential. On the other hand, I think she was kept in too long, just for her fun appeal. Can see why Sugar didn't want to get involved in drinking, but why didn't they weed that out before picking contestants? And Khadija I just respect - I'd have picked her over the nutmilk Queen. I've wondered that with a few of the ones kicked out at the interviews, but then remember it is an entertainment TV show Are we supposed to honestly think these are all the best business people from those who applied?

"business people" is a bit strong, isn't it, fiyero ? In the same way that I am an actor because I was in Gangshow 20 years ago

I don't think she has been portrayed as miss popular at all, they often ignored or belittled her or found her energy annoying. Even the after show has made multiple comments on how Sabrina was ignored because of her age. if say it's only in recent weeks she started to be seen as a more credible candidate

Oh, forgot to add, I've never considered Cape Town as a holiday destination, but it looked amazing. You must have some relatives you can stay with on Table Mountain, surely? 🐒 They're quite naughty, I believe.

Octopus is the new chicken, is all I can say. I do agree with BB that it is edited to make people look stupid, but then, if you really were as astute a business person as they claim to be, what are you doing competing on TV for investment anyway? I completely agree. I don't watch too many reality shows these days, and I'm sure that's in the editing but they seem to be filled with people who have never actually seen the show they are on. The level of self belief (or ignorance) that must be needed to watch a show like The Apprentice and think it's a good idea to apply is crazy.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that some of the contestants come out positively, in terms of career, money or public status. However, given that the contestants on the Apprentice purport to be successful businesspeople anyway, I don't get why any would risk that for a small chance of a financial reward, especially when the potential downsides are pretty big and long-term. Given how much is in the control of the show's producers & editors, I have little doubt that some of those who come across on telly as particularly horrible or stupid are actually fine or smart.
(edit: and talking about doing stupid things in public, I've just realised that I've responded to a message from a year ago)...

The early series did have some great business people but as the show has gone on, they’ve been picked because they make good television.
I wonder how long Lord Sugar will continue to it, I do think having a new face to front it could freshen up the show. He’s really the last one standing since Nick and Margaret are long gone

(edit: and talking about doing stupid things in public, I've just realised that I've responded to a message from a year ago)... LOL. What worries me about both this and "Dragon's Den" is that youngsters especially think that business is done by shouting and flapping around and begging for cash and it all happens in a few minutes. None of that is true, but TV makes it seem so. Definitely.
I'd imagine that looking into how reality tv has influenced society as whole is probably quite a long & depressing thread to pull. I wonder how reality tv has influenced society's perception of relationships over the last decade or so. Presumably people are studying this sort of thing, similar to how people look into the impact of porn on youngster's expectations of sex.

Every year I gape at the television and question my faith in humanity. But this year appears to be a new low even by their standards. That utter twazzock who sounds like he's walked out of a Guy Ritchie film who bullied that shop assistant about the commission. It's to the point where they're so vile and incompetent it's not even entertaining anymore!

Compulsive but shouting at the telly is often a thing in this house when watching an episode. Mainly at the ineptitude of many of them and the finger-down-the-throat-inducing 1 liners that gets spouted: “Cut me, and I'll bleed ambition“. Ugh!
Tacky as heck, back-stabby and a real bitch-fest. And I love it. Esp. when the most annoyingly arrogant ones get their just desserts.
Oo and a food episode next week: right up my street. The Ice lolly task. What can possibly go wrong? .”I once let a boy have a lick of my Mini Milk, so I should be project manager in this task”.

Anyone else REALLY want a "Tommy The Talking Turtle" in an adult commuter version? Press red for "Stop looking at your phone you moron and get a move on," yellow for "stand on the right, you stupid plank" and green for "the priority seats are for the elderly, pregnant and those with health issues, not you, you t*at" for a start. I mean, nobody would see who said it, all they would see is someone with a cheery green plastic turtle strapped to their hand - totally harmless and couldn't possibly have... Yes please, also a theatre version including " Your constant talking is very distracting" "Please don't look at your mobile phone until the interval" Still a very entertaining TV hour. Thomas the market trader is my fave, Lottie is cute but oh so irritating !
