Further to the above: It’s behind the paywall, but the Times article states that after 5 years of legal proceedings, a final order (after her appeal of an earlier costs order) has been made for her to pay the legal costs of £300,000. The judge stated the costs order is being made as the original tribunal was “entitled to reach the conclusion that her claims either had no reasonable prospect of success from the outset, or that they had no reasonable prospect once [she] realised that she would never in fact have played the role of Celie, or that the conduct of the claims had been unreasonable”. www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sacked-color-purple-actress-loses-legal-battle-over-homophobic-post-v96bxxc0b

You often appeal as part of the process. From their pov, they have to fight the fight. Just in that area of South London, many thousands of Sub-Saharan's pay a 10% tithe (as they do everywhere) - this will be discreetly handled.

As long as the theatre and the agency aren't out of pocket, I don't honestly care where the cash comes from.
If it happens to take money out of the pockets of bigots, I can live with that.

Ridiculous woman. Her career is over, and all she's proving is that they were right to get rid of her.

FFS
it is time to block her father's organisation from the courts.
They waste the precious time of the courts seeking to entrench their bigotry in our society.
Enough is enough

Let's not forget that many will never forgive her for dragging this on for years and wasting the valuable resources of Curve and her former agents.
She ruined her own career through being a homophobic bigot. Simple as that.

For a firmly entrenched homophobe, I don't think a career in the theatre was truly beckoning!

And, of course, she is in good company with those anti-immigration Brexit bigots.
Thank goodness for inclusive liberals, is all I can say.

I forget the details of this story... did her employment ever get as far as rehearsal? Can't help but wonder how much money could have been saved if she had just decided to quit once she realised what she would actually be doing in the show. That being said, I can't say I'm sad that her career stalled because of the way it transpired, as it guaranteed I've never had the misfortune to have to see her in anything.

She ruined her own career through being a homophobic bigot. Simple as that. I tend to agree. Whilst I have no problem with you fighting if you feel an injustice has been served, the longer this continues, ultimately, her career will be ruined as no one will hire her. At what point do you become the monster that you're fighting?

Enough is enough But what you describe as "seeking to entrench their bigotry in our society" is, in fact, the view prevailing within the Church of England.
If someone does not agree with the homophobia of the CofE they many leave, as very many modernists have done.
