Also Adam Barlow has a suntan on Friday that he didn't have on Wednesday. In a way I wish they didn't bring Covid into the storyline. Soaps are pure fantasy so why not leave it that way. We have enough reminders of the current situation everywhere else so its lovely to have 30 minutes 3 times a week when we can forget about real life. And, Corrie writers, please can you put more humour back into the programme please. Its what you do besst.

Yes the storylines are wild and exaggerated and they all live life in a work/life bubble, but they’re definitely not supposed to be fantasy. The novelty/appeal was that the audience would recognise themselves on screen. Even The Archers, one of the earliest British soaps, started out life working with the government as a way of getting information out to farmers on how to keep a post WW2 Britain fed. So it makes sense they don’t entirely ignore Covid-19 now. I thought Corrie was far to obvious with its Covid-19 stuff yesterday though, but presumably it was to let audiences know (if they chose to be aware) of where things stand - a show in a reduced but functioning capacity. Such a shame all of the 60th anniversary stuff will be impacted - especially with the older cast members not currently filming.

Such a shame all of the 60th anniversary stuff will be impacted - especially with the older cast members not currently filming. I was just watching ITV racing and they had Brough Scott on as a pudit and he is 77/78 years old. Loose Women have Janet Street Porter who is 73 years and had a skin cancer scare recently and Kelle Bryan who is immuneo-suppressed both in studio this week. But won't Corrie allow the chap who plays Roy who is 71 I think on the set. Likewise Helen Worth/Gail turns 70 early next year would she be expected on now and not next year. What if Bill Roache and Barbara Knox at 88 and 86 wished to be on set. Sue Nicholls is 76/77 and Mark Eden her husband is 92 so the likes of her and Bill and Barbara may need to take more care than others. Maureen Lipman is 74 so she is another one in the bracket. Geoff is supposed to be 70 but Ian Bartholomew is only 65 in real life and Shelley King turns 65 soon but could be considered at as much risk as those just over 70. The guy who plays Ed - Trevor Michael Georges I cannot find out how old he is but it said he started his career in 1978 on something I read so is likely 60 or a few years either way as a black male is in a couple of vulnerable categories.

Is Paula Wilcox really 70? She doesn't looks that old on those Top of the Pops repeats on BBC4. Must be the orange hair! 😉
There is talk, straight from the horse's mouth, of Maureen Lipman doing something at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the autumn.

How can they really say over 70's regulars cannot appear in the show? I guess it has something to do with insurance? No idea but Paula’s a guest as oppose to a regular so maybe there’s something in that. The older cast do want to get back to work - I believe William Roche did something on Lorraine saying as much. Plus the cast are paid per episode rather than a salary, so presumably everyone wants to get back to work.

I know when Frank Thornton and Peter Sallis turned 85 their roles in Last of The Summer Wine had to be scaled back to inside/on set shoots although both were in reasonable knick. We don't know if the Yasmin health scare has been written in as filming a court scene may have been difficult although trials do continue in real life or whether for any reason Shelley King cannot be on set for a bit. I hope they do acknowledge the issues of characters with underlying health issues. Seb is supposed to be HIV positive and Kevin's son had his leg removed, Leanne's son has a life shortening condition so these should be reflected. They can also do some humour in it too - a Mary, Roy or Evelyn would be just the sort of person to keep a suitcase full of emergency provisions for example. So the people like Jonathan Harvey or DAR who write some of the show's funniest moments could surely exploit this?

Her collapse was filmed with distancing so I think it's just an excuse due to the trial being unable to be filmed.

I think the court they use isn’t actually a set, but an off site location - but I could be wrong. You’d think a court set would be pretty socially distanced anyway actually, if they had one.

Yeah it's usually filmed off set which is not practicable at this time. {Spoiler - click to view} From press reports it seems like the trial might never happen with the storyline resolved without seeing the inevitable court climax.

I thought they had their own court set or a default one they used at the Granada/ITV studios given the amount of courtroom stuff the Network would film. Did they get the prison set from Bad Girls as they seem to have used those a lot over the last few years. I think we can guess what the Elaine spoiler will be from what Paula Wilcox hinted on Lorraine this morning.

I know they've used Chester Town Hall a couple of times for previous court scenes, but I don't think these were made there. Considering how often they need a court, it seems weird that they didn't build one when they did the set expansion.

Also with other programmes coming out of that studios and with Emmerdale just up the road in Leeds and the old YTV studios. You'd think ITV would have a default court set somewhere they could use unless going on location is just easier as a court set is several different heights.

They seem to have improved the comic content in recent weeks, helped by Maureen Lipman being given something to do other than criticize, and Sue Cleaver's exasperation with new Todd, who seems a more versatile player than the original. More laugh out loud moments than there's been for ages.

Its kind of just plodding along at the moment, which I can understand, but not gripping and yes the comedy is missing but slowly coming back. Storyline these days seem to drag on forever and never seem to end. The upcoming trail with Jeff is one that I wish would end as its all a bit boring now.

Yes I agree, it has lost its spark. Some of that I am sure is down to restrictions with cast etc with so few being in individual scenes. AS more cast return hopefully we can see an increase in storylines and not just the same ones dragged out.

Sue devaney still knocking it out the park on every scene she’s in .... and sally mathews shame she was in the wilderness for so long .... both put many actors on the street to shame But to top it all this week Jane Danson !!!! 😥🎭😍🎖🏅what a truly great actor .... she will most likely and deservedly get a soap award .... or NTA for her performance But if she had given that performance in a TV drama ala dr foster , broadchurch etc she would be up for a BAFTA !!!!

I wholeheartedly agree about Jane Danson. Last night’s episode was a mega tearjerker. Congrats to all for a very moving story.
