I give them until 5pm to update their digital marketing to capitalise on her now being an Oscar winner. I mean- why not. Her success is to be celebrated. And this show needs all the help it can get. |

On paper & Juliet sounded like a car crash and most here loved it.
Unless you want the West End to be museum pieces, revivals of old musicals, Broadway transfers and jukebox musicals you have to give new shows at least a chance.

I think you could probably make any show sound like a car crash to be honest.
Promote Carousel with "You're a Queer One, Julie Jordan", "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "The Highest Judge of All" with absolutely no context. Pitch it as "It's a new twist on a love story, a factory worker falls in love with a carousel barker, and well, I won't tell you any more, but I can say that it runs through two time periods." Add in a few pictures of the dream ballet sequence.
Or Mamma Mia "There are so many ABBA songs, we thought, why not use them? So you get this terrifically witty story about a woman living on a Greek island with her daughter, and the daughter is getting married and she wants to invite her dad to her wedding. But it could be any one of three different men, so she invites them all! It's a new fresh musical, but it works because at it's centre it has wonderful heart." Use the songs "The Winner Takes it All", "Honey Honey" and "Chiquitita".

There's a whole genre of humour based around taking popular things and describing them in a way that sounds distinctly unappealing (as I sit here drinking water flavoured with burnt beans and something squirted out of a cow), but when it's the only information people have it's a rather risky way of getting attention. In this case it'll probably work, though.

CATS - A group of mangy moggies gather in a scrap yard to compete in a contest to win the once in a lifetime prize of...immediate death!

LND - Opera loving, hideously deformed stalker is back...and this time, it's personal! With added creepy automatons, freaks, pointless plot twists and child abduction!
LES MIS - Released prisoner breaks his parole, takes on a new identity and rescues a child from her abusive foster parents...all whilst being pursued by an obsessive police officer. In an interesting plot twist, pretty much everyone he encounters ends up dead. So, to sum it up - 'The Fugitive' meets 'Final Destination'!
WICKED - Witch with a skin complaint struggles to negotiate University life, befriending Popular Witch and falling for the good looking, wealthy, titled guy!

I do like how they range from "serene headshot with tastefully blurred natural background" to "passport photo but you can smile" to "action shot of you giving somebody side eye over your sunglasses".
