I understand that she is angry- but I’m not sure her lengthy Instagram live was a good idea. I watched it and anger was not the most dominant emotion(though she could hardly be blamed if it were). She was hurt, sad, disappointed and frustrated. She had turned down other roles for this show. I thought she remained relatively dignified in response to an appalling situation and beyond shoddy treatment. Good for her for having the guts to speak out- people should not be shamed for doing so.

In Baz’s article the press release said ‘some of you know’ I feel sure this was not a shock to CHF She had already told a fan that her last performance would be earlier than originally advertised.

I certainly don’t mean to ‘shame’ her. I just feel it was not a wise way to deal with it. And I should clarify by saying I don’t think she came across as angry, her boyfriend supplied the anger.

I don’t believe she said she was leaving earlier. Just that the original information was no longer correct. Unless I missed something?

I think all attention should now be focused on ALW and whoever orchestrated this absolute shambles of an ‘announcement’.

Looks like Chrissie Bhima (who was amazing in a youth production of Once on this Island) was supposed to be joining as Cinderella

Announcing the closure of a show and gleefully announcing the opening on Broadway in the same sentence is not a good look. Particularly when you’ve taken away a years worth of work and money away from people you have just cast.

In case my previous message was lost in the last few pages when this news broke, please don't take that June closing date as gospel.
If it gets to the middle/end of this month, it may well be cheaper for them to close early rather than play to a tiny, mostly comped house.
If you plan on seeing this, or want to revisit I strongly suggest to go ASAP. This very possibly won't run until the planned closing night.
This is what I've heard.

Yet the London creatives get thrown under the bus.

Oh come on. You really expect she got any more courtesy than anyone else? They did wig fittings with the new cast last Thursday. Last Thursday. Why waste everyone's time like this? You can't tell me they didn't know. There is never a good time to close a business down, until the point that the final decision is made you carry on as normal (e.g. wig fittings etc). Same as any other company in any sector. However they day they have chosen to do it is completely unfair and disrespectful when they know agents etc are closed. I think its more that there was time to tell the press BEFORE they told the cast. Completely unacceptable

I feel awful for the cast and crew, but honestly I think it was only a matter of time before this happened.
I mentioned before that I went to both the Thursday and Friday re-opening nights in February, (with different friends who could only do opposite nights, not because I'm a crazy Cinders fan!), and neither night was sold well.
I'd say the first re-opening was about 70% at most, but the Friday night was embarrassingly empty, with only the stalls open and empty seats scattered around even then. It was really awkward when the stage rotated and we were all looking out into empty seats behind the centre stage.
I can only imagine how difficult it must've been for the creative team to justify to the hard nosed investors why it was financially viable to open, when even the anticipated re-opening wasn't in demand.
As countless others have said I don't think the blame here is with any of the cast as they are all amazing, the truth is that the book simply sucks and no one could make it work.
Carrie has so many career avenues going on that she'll be fine, but I genuinely feel awful for the rest of the crew!
Georgina and Ivano particularly have been treated very unfairly here as they are both graduates who are just making their way into the career ladder, but both are so talented that I'm sure other opportunities will come to them in no time!
If Linzi Hateley can go on to be one of the most enduring west end leading ladies after the much bigger disaster of the original Carrie, then I'm sure they can follow suit and just use this as a CV stepping stone.
I've actually often thought that Ivano could be a great Joseph if Jac Yarrow leaves the role, and Georgina is a triple threat who can sing, dance and act her arse off, so I could easily see her in something like Six.

It’s bad for all involved but most of the current cast already had one foot out of the door anyway, it’s the new cast that they didn’t even bother to tell that I feel most sort for.

Watching Summer Strallen’s Insta Live with a really horrible taste in my mouth…how awful…we had tickets right at the start that got bumped to a date I couldn’t manage…so we took a refund, intending to rearrange at our leisure. Over the months the more I’ve heard and read, the less I wanted to bother…this afternoon when I heard it was finishing, I was tempted to book…but tonight. Honestly? I don’t want to. So sorry that it’s come to this for the cast, crew and staff, both current and future cast.

Yet the London creatives get thrown under the bus. Blaming collaborators is the oldest trick in his book, but it's particularly funny in this case since now he hires only second rate creative teams which will let him meddle with everything they do. You don't hire poor Laurence Connor because you expect him to be brilliant, but because you know he's acquiescent and won't be a pain to work with. He got exactly what he wanted, he can't complain.

I understand that she is angry- but I’m not sure her lengthy Instagram live was a good idea. Her husband/boyfriend (?) was very indignant. She seemed more hurt and confused I would say. I wouldn't have thought it would hurt her job-wise, she's been in a lot and is very good. And I can't see many people thinking it was right to announce this in the middle of the bank holiday weekend. I feel very sorry for the people for whom it was their debut or first leading role.

Yeah he's not the best actor I've ever seen, but he has charisma and stage presence that I'm sure will get him other roles where he can develop his acting chops a bit more. Carrie isn't the best actress either tbh, but her stage presence and vocals are what sets her apart in my opinion. The one thing I feel with Ivano is that his voice is quite thin and nasal, which is why I think that Jospeh would be a good fit for him as it's not very challenging vocally. He's so young though, his voice is probably not even fully developed and will gain power as he works more. I seen Michael Hamway in the role of Sebastian once and vocally he put Ivano to shame, but overall he didn't have the same presence in the role in my opinion, so Ivano definitely has something.
