Carrie didn’t even find out from the production. She wasn’t on today and was only informed by other cast members and crew. No one from the production contacted her before the info was put online. Really really shocking stuff. If we believe her. And I am not exactly certain that I do

Past tense? As in it’s no longer coming over or no longer going into the Savoy? No longer coming over

Mean Girls was rumoured to go into the Savoy, but Pretty Woman got there first (don’t know how Pretty Woman is doing though?) The Boy in the Dress/The Magician’s Elephant both from the RSC could be looking for a West End theatre. I wonder if Anastasia will come over?
But my money would be on as I said up thread Bednobs and Broomsticks as it is a well known title, has had considerable money spent on it, has a big producer and is ready to go.

Obviously the worst thing about this is people losing their jobs, and the awful way they have found out.
But something that will be incredibly annoying is ALW insisting for the rest of his life that Covid was the reason the show failed, when it was clearly just a pile of cr@p from start to finish.

I imagine he'll blame the Government as well....

All the while conveniently forgetting about Frozen, Moulin Rouge and Back to the future. The fact that he is getting a new team together for the supposed broadway run says he knows its not just covid why it failed.

It certainly sounds like Alice Fearn was in the new cast judging by her Twitter. Perhaps replacing Victoria H B?
This whole situation is grim, and I hope that ALW is raked over the coals for it. There has to be a correct way of treating those on and off stage.

It’s gonna be a pretty tense show when they are all next in. I think they should all go on strike so they have to cancel the show.

Summer Strallen was going to be the Queen, and according to her only 15% of the cast were staying on. New cast would have also featured Daisy Twells, Oliver Adam-Reynolds, and Bobbie Chambers. John Whaite would have been Prince Charming, who of course is “only a cameo.”

I understand that she is angry- but I’m not sure her lengthy Instagram live was a good idea.

They did wig fittings with the new cast last Thursday. Last Thursday. Why waste everyone's time like this? You can't tell me they didn't know.

There is never a good time to close a business down, until the point that the final decision is made you carry on as normal (e.g. wig fittings etc). Same as any other company in any sector. However they day they have chosen to do it is completely unfair and disrespectful when they know agents etc are closed.

Last Thursday. Why waste everyone's time like this? You can't tell me they didn't know. On Summer’s insta live she was joined by Daisy Twells who was also supposed to be joining the cast. Daisy was driving down to London on Friday for a wig fitting and got an email on the way there telling her that the fitting was cancelled. They totally knew before today and could have informed the new cast properly before the social media posts.

Only a show in trouble would have discounted ticket prices like they did a few months ago.

ALW has talked this show up for months. The critics heaped praise but audiences just didn’t buy into the critics or the hype generated. Will Broadway audiences embrace what will be considered a flop musical - well that would be a first if they did? Sad for the cast as they truly gave it their all not helped by Fennell’s book which contained so many implausible subplots. The entire show was a mess. Horrible cheap design, muddled costumes, dire lyrics, witless script and storyline. Weak performances from most of the cast, particularly the male lead and crude humour that was incredibly misplaced in a supposedly ‘family show’. This will have to go through an entire overhaul if it to have any chance of surviving in NYC. It won’t happen, and they will lose a lot of money. I just hope the whole experience doesn’t scar the cast of the show who have had so much to deal with since they took these jobs.
