For some reason, I dreamt last night that I had gone to see this again, and mid-way through act 2 they decided to permanently close the show and started breaking down the set. The actors, who did a great job, tried to carry on as it was dismantled around them. The crew even started to take out some of the seats and send sections of the audience away. An omen?!?

This actually sounds like a riff on FOLLIES, which is set in a theatre about to be torn down!

Or a recast, with better "working professionals". It is a desperately sorry state of affairs. I am hearing of pathetic conduct from a minority in the company, a couple of young turns are risking their entire careers in the business with their behaviour backstage. If you are reading this - it is well worth shutting up. The crew talk and you end up with dozens of key people hating you. What they don't realise either is that they simply won't get seen again. Suddenly their agent has no auditions for them because casting directors don't want liabilities. A bad hire really hurts their reputation. Get your head down. Shut up. Do your job. If you can't be trusted with social media, delete all your accounts. Keep your livelihood you worked so hard for. And remember the wings have ears! Any hints as to who? I could probably hazard a reasonable guess on one or two based on things I've seen... Was it, perchance, the two young actors who did not return at the reopening, are they still with the production or do you just mean Carrie & Ivano?

I dreamt last night that I had gone to see this again... If I'm honest, I prefer the original Frank Loesser lyric. 🙂

Carrie has confirmed on Twitter that she’s leaving the show in July

She's jumping off a sinking ship. Not sure what her next move would be.

She's jumping off a sinking ship. Not sure what her next move would be. I’d be shocked if she didn’t open the show on Broadway.

I can imagine with her recent situation, a new city would be an exciting idea.

We’d love to have her on Broadway. But she needs to realize that here we have the “above the title” rule where if the star is out, refunds and exchanges can be given. So it’s not like her current situation now, the box office will be hurt if she decides she doesn’t want to come in one day.

When they published the audition info for Broadway they were looking for Cinderella as well, but maybe they are looking for an alternate rather than a lead

I’d imagine they’re looking for at least two alternates.

I’d say it’s Webber’s call. I know Carrie wants to do Broadway and Webber loves her so if she wants it, it’s hers.

...does he love her anymore though, after the last however many months? She's very firmly and publically on social media stood by her cast mates in amongst all of this...

I suppose if she does take the show to Broadway it'll save some young Broadway actress from being associated with a flop. It's a mediocre comedy that US audiences just won't get without major reworking, and it'll still be stuck with those awful songs.

It won't last much longer than that

The lyricist’s American isn’t he? Emerald Fennell’s dialogue sounds like a lot of American TV (particularly stuff like Buffy,) and the tone and look of the show is pretty much Ugly Betty: The Musical. So would American’s really fail to get it?
For all that the same few posters keep repeatedly slating it, the poll above is mostly average or better. That’s not to say I think it would be a massive hit, but ALW’s not realistically going to have another long running mega hit again, is he?
Not surprised CHF’s leaving, even if she has apparently deleted the tweet. Why on earth would any of the actors want to renew their contracts?

Cinderella is neither whip smart or funny Emerald Fennell wishes it was like Buffy.

I think I gave it 4 stars after seeing it. It’s only with time that I can see how it should have been much better realised.

The tweet was deleted very quickly announcing her last date, she must have been told to take it down.
