I think it’s safe to assume that she gets given things like the Oliviers because they know it’ll rake viewers in regardless of what she’s actually doing You wonder if it might have been given to her with the thinking "It's the closest you'll get to an Olivier darling!"
Seriously though CHF will always get good roles as a Producer will see what her fanbase is and think if we hire her, she'll bring in a lot of automatic box office revenue. I do like CHF as a performer and when I've met her she seems like a nice person. It was before a show I mainly met her when it was much quieter and whilst she may not be the greatest performer ever, she is a good business woman and knows how to promote her brand. Plus she has openly admitted she is quite a curvy woman and when she was "body shamed" by some trolls she had the guts to post a bikini photo saying " Do you think there is anything wrong with this". In an age where younger women can be pressured to slim seeing someone like CHF do that can be a positive effect.

I do think she’s a talented singer specifically, and I do really admire her promotion of body positivity in young girls, she uses her platform for good which is obviously a very good thing!

She uses her many platforms for one thing only and that is publicizing herself. If all her followers came to her productions they would instantly sell out, they do not. Typical Carrie was asking her "Hopefuls" to contactmEbay instead of just contacting Ebay herself.

That whole thing about the book, I mean by all means put the rider on it to say it can’t be resold but come on. Seriously. If you’re really THAT fussed about your novel being seen before publication then don’t give it away in a goody bag.
I think she’s a bit controlling.

First and last listen to her album done, nothing extraordinary. Confused by the arrangement of some of the song. Hated Let it Go and I Dreamed A Dream, especially the latter what happened to that song?
Her voice is pretty, and she clearly has a cracking belt and range but I think of other performers her age who have an even more cracking range and belt, they just don't have a huge Youtube following.
I loved her arrangement of Journey to the Past though. Now if we could just get Christy Altomare to sing that arrangement it would be even better.

Echo your thoughts on the album. Gave it a quick listen but hated the arrangements and orchestrations. Just felt a bit cheap and grated on me. Shame because her voice is lovely.

I lasted through about 2 of her backstage interviews for the Oliviers then had to give up - she just kept repeating the question she'd already had an answer to and clearly didn't know much about some of the shows, the questions were inane.

Her online stint wasn't good - I'm surprised she never asked anyone if they watched her YouTube channel - imagine if it had been Patti LuPone!
Like the time in the early 2,000's when Lorraine Kelly had someone doing Oscar aftershow party interviews and she was in major cooing mode as a couple of the Friends cast spoke to her reporter. They were asked who they had been most excited to meet at the Oscars and both said Paul McCartney. Then who should be next up on the carpet but Sir Paul "Ask him who he was excited to meet" yelled Lorraine not excited that her reporter was speaking to a legend. No doubt she expected Paul to reply that he 'd been excited to meet a couple of TV actors! "Well no-one really " replied Paul.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t cross the street to meet Paul McCartney.
I’m sure the feeling is mutual 😬

Who knows but I agree with her.
Life is too short to engage with trolls on Twitter

I'm guessing some people perhaps are not enamoured with the Heathers casting, which is fine, but I notice a trend on Twitter where people feel they have to copy the person they are talking about into their conversation.
Extremely rude!

Considering she's so "famous", I can't imagine she is all that thrilled to see her album barely get into the Top 50 last week and fall out of the Top 100 this week. Although I actually thought she would do better with this album. Usually YouTuber crap sells fast and in tonnes.

The album is on Spotify now...(Sorry if that's been noted!) I did buy it (I like the gal as a performer) it's a bit 'meh' in places- nothing outright bad but just a bit 'didn't blow my socks off'. I did love the Disney covers- and she's got a very Disney voice, and I don't say that as an insult. The Les Mis numbers also are very good- one is a 'hidden track' I assume as it's not listed.
I don't know the song she does with Oliver Ormson but I like it and their take on it. And What it Means to be a Friend and Somewhere that's Green are cute, perfectly serviceable versions- but probably never going to make my top 10. Wasn't fussed on Burn or Summertime, I don't quite think they fit her voice. But all in all a nice enough album. Will I listen to it over and over? probably not but for a dip in/sing along in the car type thing, it's nice.
I must confess I've never seen Heathers the film so wasn't rushing in a scrum for tickets...

I don't know the song she does with Oliver Ormson but I like it and their take on it. It's called 'You Matter To Me' and it's from the musical Waitress. Great song. I think the version on Rachel Tucker's album with Lee Mead might be my favourite 😁

I didn't realise that was from Waitress but I agree, the Tucker/Mead version is absolutely beautiful.

Yes that version is beautiful (I also think the best) and you can download it separately from Rachel's album.

The album sold under 2,000 copies first week which for someone with her fanbase was a fairly low number. Her books have been best sellers and her fanbase turns out in force when she is in shows, so something is a miss.

Maybe the initial glut of mail order sales don’t count towards the charts or something? Or maybe, just maybe, less than 2000 people make all of that noise? 😂

I think some of the criticism of Carrie here is a little unfair. She is a talented vocalist and performer, she’s been doing theatre since she was little. And if you find her YouTube videos irritating -just don’t watch them!

I’ve just put a ticket for sale on the noticeboard for the Magic of Animation concert next weekend if anyone wants a cheap one - it’s in the stalls and it’s not much money!!
