Carrie said that she got the part of Nancy in Oliver but turned it down because Truly in Chitty was a longer run. That's very professional of her. Not! Rampant egotist. Somebody in the chat mentioned it, Scott Paige who she was with said she'd be good in the role, she said quite quickly that she'd got it, explained the situation and moved on. It's not like she made a whole video on it.

It's a) pragmatism (a longer run) b) she really wanted to do Chitty having done it as a kid. As you say it's not like she made a video announcing it!

It is really though. She could have just acknowledged that'd she'd love to play the role and move on. Rather than mention that her casting was preferable to the person who ended up getting the part.

Yeah, I expect she didn't mean to sound braggy, but it does come off that way if you don't hedge around with a more non-committal "well Nancy was a possibility for a while but ultimately Truly happened". Which of us ever has the best-phrased answer up their sleeve at the point of being asked a question though?

WMC have erected a 'Carrie Sign' at stage door declaring they will 'clear the area' '20 minutes after the end of the performance'

I know she doesn't go some nights because the company ask her not to, they managed Chitty too I believe which was quite brutal at points. Somebody even threatened to attack her a few days ago, I wouldn't want to go in that situation

Yeah there are idiots online. We all know this. You block, report and move on.
All this "look fans, someone just said THIS to me" gives them the attention they crave and probably makes it worse.

Aren't there copyright laws that stop second rate YouTubers novelising Phantom of the Opera and pretending it's an original idea?

Just because it's set in a theatre and has a ghost doesn't mean it isn't original. Have you ever read Terry Pratchett's Masquerade?

Just because it's set in a theatre and has a ghost doesn't mean it isn't original. Have you ever read Terry Pratchett's Masquerade? ‘Masquerade’ was a tongue-in-cheek parody of POTO and it didn’t take itself seriously. This one looks like it will...

The stages of Carrie Hope Flectcher...earlier in the week I watched her 'Watch Me Wednesday' and thought 'Aw she's sweet and funny bless her'. Yesterday I watched this one and turned it off halfway through with a 'For f***'s sake' muttered to myself.
A) I'm sick of youtubers getting book deals b) Jesus H Christ talk about unoriginal.
Yes I'm old and bitter haha. But I also read 2 out of 3 of her books and they were...not well written. (I do for the record think she's actually a sweet girl, who has been in a bit of a bubble her whole life)

I think we're a bit mean to her sometimes. She's just incredibly excited about her book.
On the other hand, if you feel your life just hasn't had enough facepalming in it recently then have a read of the comments on her video.

Regardless of me actually being a fan of Carrie's, her fans are absolutely awful and I try to avoid being associated with them as much as I can

I very much enjoy having a laugh at Carrie's expense but still have respect for all she's achieved. She had a popular YouTube channel with several hundred thousand subscribers back in the era where that was very rare, and got cast in Les Mis by the age I am now. She was a very good Eponine and has clearly done very well for herself generally, but these books veer further and further into parody with each one. All I Know Now was a patronising collation of pieces of advice that ranged from sh*t to genuinely damaging, I got about a quarter of the way through On the Other Side before I had to stop because it was just too cringey (AND HAD SEVERAL GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN, WHO OKAYED THAT!?) and I haven't even attempted whatever the one after that was. I love derivative works, I mean my favourite musical is Wicked after all, but to try and have your piece of work that is a carbon copy of Phantom of the Opera but with characters who sound like something you'd get in a Gordon Ramsay salad taken totally seriously is foolish. Come on Carrie

Personally i admire her energy - and she certainly puts the effort in.

(I do for the record think she's actually a sweet girl, who has been in a bit of a bubble her whole life) They sell, or she wouldn't keep on being asked to write them......... Personally i admire her energy - and she certainly puts the effort in. The first part of my post says how much I enjoyed her video... I love her as a musical theatre performer- I went to see Chitty (a painful experience) for her, I loved her in Addams. I also bought two of her books. The first (the one about 'life') is not bad- it's in her 'voice' and it does what it says on the tin, gives advice about life, albeit one tailored to younger folks than me. Still enjoyed it. I tried with her novel, and I personally couldn't stand the style, I don't think she's yet skilled enough as a writer and had she not had the profile (and the contacts in publishing via her Brother/Sister in law) I don't think it would have got published. She's incredibly hard working, but she also got quite a few 'leg ups' and seems a bit oblivious to that. I admire her talent on stage greatly, I enjoy most of her youtube content. All that said, as a writer, I struggle in the broader sense with all the youtuber books out there-ghostwritten or not- because it frustrates me that there's an easy way in for people with little or no talent for writing. That they sell is obvious, that's not the issue. My frustration is that hers (and others) sell at the expense of actual writers getting their books published.

She's certainly become a master at using social media to promote her career, her stuff and all things ‘Carrie’. Is she still flogging those monthly gift boxes that people subscribe to? You got a cardboard bookmark, a tea bag and a piece of chocolate plus other Carrie themed bits and bobs like a pencil sharpener. .. and that’s thirty quid please. Blatant. Still, make hay while the sun shines eh Carrie. Shame you couldn’t have put as much effort into the matinee performance of TAF that I saw though, at which you were very mediocre. Kiss x

Kiss x I think she stopped doing the gift boxes a while ago. It hurt her hands to keep taking the Poundland bath bombs out of their boxes and putting them into Lush ones. Either that or her young teenage fanbase ran out of money from all of the other merchandise she was trying to force onto them.

I think all critical posts of CHF should have a passive-aggressive kiss at the end of them. Because that’s what she does on twitter x

Unsuspecting GAY guy, probably. Because everyone in showbiz is a bit camp, Carrie hasn’t quite got the hang of picking out the proper straight ones. At that performance of TAF, after each time she kissed the guy playing second fiddle on her social media her on-stage boyfriend, he sneakily wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. And I SWEAR I’m not lying.
Poor Carrie xxx
