Not gonna lie, this video is kinda cute, especially the audition part. Her journey with this show is interesting and I think she'll be a good Fantine even though she feels a little young.

Ruthie Henshall was 25 when she first played Fantine.

Celinde who Carrie was in Les Mis with would have been 26/27 when she started too.

Also Fantine wouldn't have been that old. They cast her older than Cosette and Eponine because I'm pretty sure those two characters are actual teenagers at the time that their action goes down, but going by the appearance of the young Cosettes on stage, Fantine dies when her daughter is around 8 years old, and given that Cosette's father is a student, it's not unreasonable to assume Fantine would have been in the 16-19 age bracket when she gave birth, so would probably be a maximum of 28 at her time of death.
Okay, yeah, so Carrie is only 26 and can play a lot younger thanks to her features, but that doesn't stop her being age appropriate for Fantine.

To be fair, feels a little young isn't the same as is a little young. It's about performance rather than actual chronological age.
But hey, maybe as Fantine her performance will feel more mature than it has previously. Actor, after all....

Also as it's a concert version, and we don't know how 'staged' it'll be, and given the ahem perhaps limited acting of some of the others, maybe just singing it pretty (which we know she can do) is enough anyway?

If Carrie is off to Broadway I hope she’s going to do some training or something. The last minute of this where she starts to belt sounds really uncomfortable to me. I'm no singing expert but I’ve heard people use the term ‘unsupported’ and this is what I imagine that to mean. I commented after seeing Heathers that she sounded like she was straining and everything seems to come from the back of her throat. Same here.

Look at you all, you’re trying to knock her down. It’s clear you’re just jealous. She works so hard at what she does! I’ve been training for years and I wish I could be like her! Before trying to knock down an incredibly talented performer ask yourself “what would I do if someone said that” and “can I do it anywhere near as well”

I wasn't even aware she was related to Tom Fletcher until a couple of years ago. CHFs' ability is judged fairly on here, any knocks about her would only be how she may come across to certain people, not about her singing ability, her appearance etc.

If anyone could be bothered reading this thread from the beginning it is quiet clear how much of it is attributed to her undoubted vocal talent and peoples enjoyment of it.

Before trying to knock down an incredibly talented performer ask yourself “what would I do if someone said that” and “can I do it anywhere near as well” Welcome to TheatreBoard. For those of us who work in the ‘real world’, being assessed on our performance at work is standard procedure. Being told “that went well, great job” or “you could have improved on that by doing x, y or z differently” is normal. We swallow it and try to do better. Carrie works in the performing arts where criticism is a normal and fundamental part of the job. As you’ve been training for years you must know that? We have rules here about what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to criticism of performers. Defend your favourites all you like, by all means passionately stick up for Carrie in everything she does. But if you’re going to enjoy your time here you have to accept that you’re going to read negative stuff about performers you may like.

New video. Carrie has "reset my boundaries"
Quite right too. I can't imagine how she has coped with this chaos for so long

I once told the husband of a writer I know that I'd finally got a copy of his book in a 2 for 50p sale in the small charity warehouse at my local "tip". I was promptly told that said author wouldn't need to be privy to that info, might have "tipped" him over the edge, apparently. Such egos!

Just the fact that writing a book takes a ridiculous amount of time and effort, is read in a few hours and discarded. Some authors like myself can deal with that and don't mind, as we work mostly in online media and are used to churning out copy constantly. Others who write only books do feel it acutely. I don't think it is something to judge lightly, perhaps. But remembered if it’s any good.

I watched the Ramin concert on stream.theatre tonight, and I noticed they’re repeating them all in December. My niece loves Carrie H-F so her mum said she might buy a ticket, but it depends to some extent on what she’s singing.
Did anyone see it and can remember some details (Eg approximate split between show tunes and non show tunes)? Is there a fan site somewhere that might carry a setlist?

I didn't see but it sounds more musicals-focused based on this review... monstagigz.com/2020/09/26/gig-review-carrie-hope-fletcher-tonight-at-the-london-coliseum/Hope that helps! She's got a great voice whatever she sings.

CHF calling out a police officer publicly on Instagram for privately messaging her to ask that she not ‘tar every police officer with the same brush’ following recent events in America. She’s deleted a couple of her stories but here’s one remaining. Interested in folks views on actors in soon to be high profile shows using their public platforms and considerable followings to argue with people? She’s currently on a blocking spree of folk that disagree with her. instagram.com/stories/carriehopefletcher/2552271307610059975?igshid=1rx3qsxsg45f1

Everyone should be able to speak freely which then may or may not have repercussions but that’s on them for making the choice to express their opinion . Nobody has to follow Carrie or anybody else on social media. If you don’t like what the person has to say then you can simply unfollow them.

I'm not a big fan of making DMs public without permission, no matter who is doing it, unless the messages were actually abusive and/or continued after the sender was asked to stop. I suppose at least she didn't make the person's name public. I wouldn't have an issue with her arguing back if it was to a public comment on Instagram or some such, that's the risk someone takes when commenting on something.
