Carrie posted on her Instagram story that she thinks her biggest secret for this year might be revealed this week. I’m assuming it’s theatre related but could be wrong.

How does she know it'll be her biggest secret of the year? It's only February! Come July she might have accidentally killed a fan of hers after they break in to her house in the middle of the night. I doubt it's more secretive than that would have to be.

I think it's way more likely that she'd do a preachy video about the etiquette of not breaking into a performer's house tbh...

Outside of Addams Family & Heathers, what else is she known for? Google is your friend but aside from that, people focus so much on the social media side of things (which is really just the new form of the traditional PR that many actors had benefitted from in the past) that underneath she has a pretty strong musical theatre pedigree, bearing in mind that she's only 26. She's probably done as much or perhaps more work on stage than many a bigger "name" that everyone seems to love like Rachel Tucker for example. I appreciate that not everyone likes the way she has embraced social media or such like to put herself out there but that's the world we live in nowadays. We can't rely on seeing someone on 'Pebble Mill at One' anymore. And I'm not directing this at anyone in particular but I do suspect that many of the claims of "who is she?", "what has she done?", "I've never heard of her" especially in threads about her or shows that she's actually in are a little disingenuous.

Ah! Backpeddle. But I’m A Cheerleader ISN’T the secret thingy she’s been going on about. It WAS a secret but it’s not THE secret.
Do forgive me, I’m reporting ‘live’ from that guru gossip site, specifically the thread called Carrie “Overshare Bear” Fletcher 😆
She’s not in Frozen either. Or Wicked. Or the narrator in Joseph.

I think it's more that people find it mildly amusing that she complains so much about dealing with her fame/fans, when really in absolute terms it's very minor. Yes, Rachel Tucker is similarly known/unknown outside of musical theatre circles but doesn't make nearly so much noise about it! Bear in mind that musical theatre really is a very niche interest, compared to other pop culture. I mean, my regular theatre buddy had no idea why actual famous person Brian May turned up at a musical theatre carol service before Christmas - she'd never even heard of Kerry Ellis, and had not the slightest idea that he'd produced a couple of albums and toured with her. That's how little penetration into the mainstream musical theatre news gets.

Hmmm, seems I've not explained myself very well as is my habit, damn you internet! Mind you a (not)subtle insinuation of insincerity seems beyond the pale!
I've never seen CHF in a show so don't know her credits from a programme bio, thanks to those who took time to fill me in, am still baffled a little at her 'reach'. Kathryn above makes a good point about musical theatre stardom and in this case up to Heathers there doesn't appear to be a break out or stand out role in her CV and I sense her popularity and fan base were already well established then. I've honestly never seen a book of hers for sale anywhere, and I'm a book shop haunter, or mentioned/plugged by others and yet through Twitter I know about for example Andrew Keenan Bolger's book, maybe it's just down to the people I follow? Who knows.
As for the YouTube channel/videos, again she was not on my radar from that point of view and whilst there are known names out there like Zoella and James Charles, who seem to get on mainstream sites like the BBC, again CHF hasn't come to my notice that way. Would she bring Birmingham to a standstill as the latter allegedly did? (I think there was a story on the BBC site by CHF around Christmas time about body shaming or weight perhaps?)I like to think I have an intelluctual curiosity about people and tend to seek out information on names unfamiliar to me but again you look CHF up on CastAlbums and she has one credit, on IMDB she has 3 credits. So the attention seems disproportionate. Not, of course that those sites are the arbiters of success.
None of this is to disparage her or her talent which may be immense, I just find the attention she gets or seems to get unusual. Especially as so much seems to be negative thoughts and attitudes to her.
And yes, Ryan, Google is my friend, although other search engines are available of course. It was so thoughtful of you to point that out four days after my original post in such a non supercilious fashion. Thank you.

I was at the stage door of Les Mis when she was Eponine (I was waiting for someone else). Precisely two people were waiting to see her - although to be fair it was a weekday matinee and her fans were probably all at school!

I stagedoored for Rob Houchen and I don't remember any craziness around her tbh. Maybe it was too early in her run and she wasn't that popular then? Idk. That was the Summer of 2013.

i stagedoored at the time too, mostly for Anton Zetterholm, and everytime there were at least 20 girls, and all wanted to tell Carrie their whole life story and all their problems , also got shoved around while Carrie tried to get a break and get something to eat but the swarm followed her

I expect they will be announcing Rob Houchen shortly as Marius. Enjorlas any ideas? Or was that why Ramin and Ben Forster were there. Oh and Cossett. I really would have thought her more the grown up Cossett than Fantine cannot quite picture her doing a death scene and looking frail. Too bubbly. And yes I know an actor's job is to act but still cannot see it. But a mad if diverse Stage Door.

It was so thoughtful of you to point that out four days after my original post in such a non supercilious fashion. Thank you. I think she uses her social media presence very effectively across multiple platforms to build “hype” around her books, her shows, concerts, vlogs etc. So whilst she might not be hugely well known outside of that fan base, the people she has following her are highly engaged and will pretty much consume anything she puts out. She’s very clever, but she has to perpetually feed the monster to keep it all going. And that means she has to give a lot of herself to the fans, who are always greedy for more more more, which then becomes the topic for more and more output. If she’s really any good then the time will presumably come when she doesn’t have to do this any more. But the two performances I saw (Addams Family and Heathers) were proficient but not outstanding. I think she’s overrated.

If Carrie goes back into Les Mis I would have thought Cosette would be a more natural part for her now. Eponine was almost a waif like character and Carrie's build now and with her long curly hair would be more suited to a pretty Cosette IMO.
CHF has built up her social media following but sadly the monster has got out of control. Without it she would have been having a pretty successful musical theatre career if you look at her resume. She has probably done well financially from her books but it has come with the price of losing a lot of her anonymity.
Her fanbase may help her get roles as producers will know that if only a certain percentage turn up they are guaranteed ticket sales but might it mean she may not get certain more sort after roles in the future as she is seen as a social media star and not considered as a West End leading lady.

Does she have the vocals for Cosette? It's a very different vocal range.

Carrie has said herself in comments on Instagram that she wouldn't be right for Cosette.

I remember seeing Les Mis in 2014, and Carrie must have had a last minute emergency/illness. Her understudy was announced just before the show, and the girl next to me immediately burst into tears, and sobbed all the way through the Prologue (and then again at the interval when her mum reminded her she wouldn't get to hear Carrie sing On My Own).
