Now, back to the show. Purchased the OLC when we saw the show on 30 June. Now back in the States, I have started listening and, to me, it's an excellent recording that I am immensely enjoying. I'm catching so much more that I missed attending the show. And I enjoy many of the rhymes - including "a trojan horse. no a trojan corpse."

The lyrics are so dense that there's loads you can miss out on. A tribute to the cast who have to perform them, makes you appreciate them all the more.

A joyous show. I can't add much here that hasn't already been said. Aside from the excellent material the show really showcases the wonderful cast. Special mention to Christian Andrews on tonight as Hester etc - wonderful. Some terrific comedy moments and excellent comic staging. Act 1 and Act 2 finales the theatrical highlights. Don't miss it. 5 stars.
The Fortune theatre gets very hot and the seats are not comfy.
I would rush back, except as has been covered in the forum previously - it's pricey, so I probably won't.

Apologies for a double post HOWEVER also to share that I was amazed this is their first musical as a company. I am most excited for what they do next. Surely it will be brilliant too!

I went to see today’s matinee. Sitting in on of the boxes, I could barely understand any of the group numbers and some of dialogue. Overall it detracted from my enjoyment and has made it difficult to judge the show.

Next stop - Olivier Awards? Might get to see it again then, depending on the prices. I did love it, so would be happy to go back. Is it really the best reviewed show in West End history?!

I know Merrily We Roll Along which was at the Comedy Theatre (now Harold Pinter) used to claim to have had more 5 star reviews than any west end musical ever so maybe this has taken away its crown.

A few questions for those in the know….Where is the best place to sit for this show? And what row is best? And how close is “too close”? Is the stage high?
Thanks SO much

Middle stalls a few rows back. It is a small auditorium. I sat on the end of second row for the leg room and it was fine.

Front row dress circle feels like you're on the stage. The perfect view! Legroom is not good, if that's a priority I'd go middle of the stalls.

Thanks for the replies. Would you have row B or C are too close?

Thanks for the replies. Would you have row B or C are too close? We had E11/12 and they were perfect views. We are not tall, so legroom was fine.

I'm in London for the the last week of Nov, so was ecstatic when I heard about the extension. Went online this morning and only stall seats available were the very front or all the way in the back. Got B in the center, so hoping for the best.

Got really excited when I clicked on the link in the latest mailing and several seats were marked at ten pounds off the usual price (so a Monday show would be £29.50). Only to find when I clicked on the seat I wanted that it was a group rate for 6+ people.

Only to find when I clicked on the seat I wanted that it was a group rate for 6+ people. So I have been caught out by this on other nights. Yes I didn't look at what I was doing and assumed if a price is advertised as a promo price with green stars that would be a special promo price. Sadly ATG just blamed me and it is very misleading indeed especially as the yellow seats have the same promo and are not advertised as such. After the visit I have booked in error I will not be returning to the show and frankly they are taking the micky now with prices as well as the already discussed issues with the structure of seat prices. Wednesdays put up to £70 a pop and the Monday special prices reserved for those that are on the mailing list and have probably seen it before otherwise you have to pay through the nose. What a way to limit your run which may for now trade off the back of word of mouth but who is really going to pay £70+ for a show (although this ground is already well covered here).

I've already booked a Monday performance on one of the new dates but have the Tuesday (evening) prices gone up again?

I love the show but it really is getting ridiculous now. However, as it seems to be selling well I can't see them changing this pricing strategy any time soon. I'd like to think it can't get any more expensive at this point, but who knows...!

My next door neighbour was telling me today he was trying to book for Jan/Feb of next year and said there were only a few seats showing for every single performance. I thought this was a bit odd so just looked myself and it's true. I've tried ATG and Operation Mincemeat website and it's the same. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Having a look at the ATG website, it's showing every Monday bar one during the November-February extension as already sold out. If that's true, and not that they're holding back tickets for some reason, then that means anyone who wants to see the show during that period who hasn't been able to already book - 4+ months in advance - is going to have to pay a minimum of £49.50. That counts me out for one. I had been going to try to find out if a couple of the understudies had any dates scheduled later in the run but I guess there's no point asking now that I won't be able to afford a ticket anyway.
ETA Sorry alece10, my comment is a cross post & isn't meant to be a reply to yours.

All of the seats on sale are premium seats priced at £89.50. The other seats haven’t been released for sale, and are cheaper. This is undeniably a tactic to secure the most money possible from advance bookers. If you want to book this far in advance - and some do - then this is the price, like it or lump it. If cheaper seats were available people would go for those, which would devalue the premium seats demand and therefore result in lost profit. Pretty cynical.

It's really weird, even with the link with the Monday seats in, all Mondays are supposedly sold out from November to February, except for January 29th which has lots and lots of seats. I'm not sure what they are up to, probably trying to rush people into panic buying before releasing more later. I've decided with the misleading "promo price", the Monday shenanigans and the OTT price rises it will only be any lottery wins I get from now on.

I love this show. Had a great time and think it's wonderful to have a proper new musical in the West End. But my god, it's a 'fringe style' production with a small cast, small band, small set. Incredibly cheeky to be charging £90 for a ticket in the upper circle. I know that the Fortune Theatre is small but, personally speaking, I hate heights so would feel ultra ripped off sitting up there at £90 - and again, I loved the show.

I don't know what goes on behind the scenes by perhaps it's to cover the costs of the overheads? I mean how much does it cost to rent a West theatre for a period of time? I've got no idea.
