I managed not to see the film for years, but when I did, I really enjoyed it. I love Tina Fey and her husband is great too. Love 30 Rock.
I, too, hope that this will come to the UK.

If this is a good production it will no doubt transfer to Broadway and then hopefully London after that!!
I'm interested to see how they will put the film on stage and what sort of songs the characters will sing?!

Basically, I'm hoping it'll be full of 'Muffin Top' and 'He Needs A Kidney' type songs.

This could pull a "Legally Blonde" and be serious fun. Something tells me this will make it over to London soon enough too.

I love love love love the film and can't probably recite it verbatim. Always wanted to go to those Mean Girl bitch-alongs that they play in the cinema in Soho.
From the dresses and the iPhones, it looks like they've bumped it to current day and to in (2003?) when it first came out. Can't wait to see it in June.

Many reviews on BroadwayWorld.
There are pictures of the unit set on Instagram.
The internet is already flooded with audio bootlegs.
I've sampled some but didn't listen from beginning to end...I can't really place the music. It doesn't specifically sound like anything I can classify. It's slightly contemporary, but sort of pastiche sounding. I also couldn't really tell who sings what- they all sound like young Sutton Fosters. There also seems to be a lot of tribal drumming, alluding to Katie's upbringing in Africa and the jungle that is highschool school. Lines are directly lifted from the film. There are a few new ones, and I specifically chuckled when I came across this one..I think it's Karen who says it.
"Sometimes i feel like an iPhone without a case..Like, I'm worth a lot, and have a lot of functions, but I could just fall and shatter"

If you're asking ME- then my answer is I don't know, because II cannot tell from an audio bootleg.
But based on audience reaction on the BroadwayWorld forum, yes, just about everyone has been very positive.

I saw the 1st preview and thought it was really good!
The show follows the movie pretty closely but it's a fresh, updated take on it (it's updated to 2017). I've seen some mixed opinions on the score but I really loved it- it's very poppy with some tribal influences. Choreo was fantastic! Honestly wasn't expecting the show to have too much but it was really fun to watch. I loved everyone in the cast but the standouts to me were Kate Rockwell (Karen), Grey Henson (Damian), and Erika Henningsen (Cady).
I don't have too many criticisms but I did think Act 1 dragged a bit; they can definitely make some cuts. I also felt Regina was underdeveloped, moreso in Act 1 than in Act 2. She needs to have a better song in the 1st Act because the she has now isn't that great. I'm sure by the time it hits Broadway, it's gonna be even better!
Sidenote: This was probably the best audience I have been in in seeing a show. The audience was EATING this up.

Can’t wait until it makes its way over here, which I assume it will at some point. Sonia Friedman is one of the producers so it’s likely if it’s received well on Broadway.

This sounds like a great idea. A lot hangs on the casting of Cady and Regina.

I doubt Mean Girls will get many Tony awards in 2018.
The Band's Visit will win Best Musical and Score. So will Katrina Link for Best Actress. Best Supporting Actress will probably be Lindsay Mendez from Carousel.
There's no Best Actor role in Mean Girls. At best it might win Best Supporting Actor for the guy who plays Damian.

Can someone help me with these lyrics? I marked an * next to parts I'm not sure of. I'm also not sure of what shakes besides hands.
Don’t be fooled by her wink* She is not playing dolls She is stalking the halls For the thrill of the kill
Every person in school Is aware of her stare When she tosses her hair They go perfectly still
All their eyes say don’t attack me Watch them sweat and hands, heads shake Every food chain has its ??* Regina George eats stake
She’s the queen of beasts She can smell your fear In this biosphere She’s the apex predator
Like a lionesses Only with less fur You don’t mess with her She’s the apex predator

I think the Best Supporting Actress could go to Renee Fleming as well but I expect either Kate or Ashley to pick up a nomination in the category. Agree about the first two predictions and your last for sure although I am really hoping that they will work on Regina's character to get Taylor at least a nomination. I expect Tina to pick up a nomination for the book if not the win but agree that it will be hard to win any other major award. I am just really hoping they'll do SRO or rush, would love to see it but the prices from $99 with those booking fees are just above even my Broadway threshold.

I've never seen Fleming act but from what I hear she's very stiff and ordinary. I also feel that the role does not call for a nomination, no matter how good you are. I think for Carousel, in addition to Best Actress (not going to win) and Actor nominations (could win), Lindsay Mendez could get nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

So I was fortunate enough to attend the invited dress rehearsal, having not seen the show in DC — and I haven't even seen the movie in several years. I don't feel very attached to the movie (I enjoyed it, but I certainly don't love it nor quote it all the time), but I think the show nicely captured the spirit of it. Most of the songs could stand to lose 10%, and I felt like the pacing of act 2 was much slower than act 1, but I was never bored and the newer book scenes are pretty hilarious. There's a line where a character likens herself to an iPhone without a case (something like "I have a lot of worth, but at any moment I could shatter") that I ended up giving one of those bursts of laughter that even surprised myself. The songs aren't particularly memorable, but they fit for the 2.5 hours you're there. Grey Henson is the highlight, though it's not too much of a stretch from his Elder McKinley.
I wouldn't say this much if there'd been no out-of-town, but it's pretty solid and I'm optimistic/hopeful that they'll make these changes before opening. I can see this doing fairly well.
