When we have a UK cinema release shall we all book the front row one night to remember the good times? I never wanted to sit on the front row for any show until this one. I did it on 2 of my 9 visits and they were definitely the best (well, except for my first visit when I could not believe what I was seeing and my cheeks hurt at the interval because I was smiling so much).

I know you would get a totally different view (and probably better) from the dress circle but there was something special about that front row. No one blocking your view and you could even see the beads flying off her dress when she danced on the piano or even get splattered by Stuart's sweat 😁

My facebook memories have reminded me that it was two years ago today that I made my first visit. Little did I know that this show would bring me back from yorkshire so many times!

May I just join in this tribute to a wonderful show that meant so much to me because it was full of glorious songs that I seem to have known all of my 81 years of life. I learned most of them from my mother, who was a great movie buff, and the cast of highly talented performers brought all those magnificent songs totally to life.
My eleven visits were among the happiest I have ever spent in a theatre and for all except the first I was in the front row, well the end seats in A row actually.

Yes!! Such a much missed show.
I am not interested in dance shows and thought I'd have no interest in seeing this but a board member posted about those special front row seats so it seemed a shame not to book. Hooked in line and sinker! The show was such an absolute joy.
I don't think there has ever been a show I would see four times in two days but I did so on the last two days of this show. I doubt there will ever be a show that I will do that for again either!

Also possibly not that many shows that will have that kind of schedule for their last two days! Would have loved to have been able to do that, but I had to work so saw none of them, didn't see any shows in the last week which I always feel a little sad about. I still remember not really enjoying the show the first time I saw it but I think I tried to concentrate far too much on the story, I went back a second time because I wanted to see Norman play Julian. I think knowing that I wasn't expecting much of the story I found it far easier to enjoy the second time and was then happy to return many times more.

Not just the last two days.
They had eight shows in the last four days. EIGHT.
Four two show days. Crazy schedule.

They did, but it must have felt like the perfect end for all of them, what an amazing way it was to finish the show, nothing normal about it at all.

That's sad, luckily I've not had any reason to walk past there since it closed yet.

Sorry if anyone had already about posted this but I walked past the Theatre Royal today and they have taken the 42nd Street sign down now😢😢 it was a sad sight! If you look towards the right in the picture you can still see an advertisement featuring dancers legs hidden behind steel on the side of the Canope covering the stairs of the entrance. Hopefully this stays up as a reminder of this production until they are ready to bring down in the scaffolding in 2020.

Well, this has made my Easter - seeing this 42nd Street thread topping the charts of the musicals thread 4 months after closing!
What's all this Waitress malarkey?

the Drury Lane makes me feel so sad to walk past without the 42nd Street signs. it really deserved to run longer, a shame the refurb was so close. the final week just showed how loved and appreciated the show was, and seeing ushers, crew, cast and audience members collectively emotional was so special and unique it felt. it was a truly magical experience.

If you go on Google Map and click on the street view you can "walk" down the street with the signs still in view.

Every time I see a new image or clip from the film it makes me smile, so jealous of all the people in America that get to watch it tomorrow.

So I had an idea that is Emma Caffery approved! For the UK screening, they should just have a big screen put up in the Drury Lane and we can all watch it there. Cast, crew, fans all sat together, on the floor, on the stage, on scaffolding, whatever works! Who's down?! 😂😂

Can I bring a fold up chair? I dont sit on floors. Mainly because I cannot get down on the floor or get up again at my age.
