Are you able to actually play it?? I downloaded it too but it doesn’t let me press play. It’s as if they got into some issue with rights or something Just tried and yes it ket me play it. Was surprised as thought would have the same issue as you. Probably next time I try it won't work knowing my luck. BTW it's on Sky Arts over the Christmas. And that's why you buy CD/vynil. Even if you buy a download it is never yours if you cancel your account, company goes bust, etc. Basically you buy access for a while. At least with the physical product it is yours and artists get more money than with streaming/digital. |

It’s on tv NOW! It’s so glorious. And Clare Halse- what a star. It’s shameful she wasn’t up for an Olivier Award. Brilliant performance. I saw the show six times live and probably the same with the video recording. Truly outstanding triple-threat performance. What is she up to now? Should leading a show on Broadway or in town, but seems to have gone off my radar. The closest we have to a Sutton Foster that I’ve seen in the last decade. Several web sites say Clare is playing Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly at the Palladium |

I don't think David Ian is involved anymore with Hello Dolly! All the press only mentions Michael Harrison.

His website certainly seems to suggest that he is - and he was co producing the original run so you'd assume he's still involved...

The filmed version is currently on Now/Sky and BroadwayHD at least - I forgot what a huge chorus/ensemble that show had, amazing production!

The weather outside was frightful so, with a tub of Roses by my side, I snuggled under the duvet and watched this morning's 10.45 'showing'.
So many happy memories of the 9 times I saw the show at Drury Lane (plus once on the big screen). From the first note, under Jae Alexander's direction, to the last, I was grinning from ear to ear...despite the shortcomings in the story and Tom Lister not being quite nasty enough.
If we never see a production on this scale again, at least it's been captured on film for prosperity.

One of the best productions I’ve ever seen. Watched the filmed show on back to back days over Christmas. I saw the production multiple times and was repeatedly astonished by how luxurious it was every single time.
Sadly, productions of this ambition and scale are very unlikely to be seen again in the West End for a long time - if ever. If producers can cast 12 people in t-shirts with no sets or props, and the audience pay to see it, they will.

Looking after my parents Springer spaniels so am curled up on the sofa with them watching 42nd Street. They are occasionally opening one eye to protest at my singing!

Just came up on my Facebook that 5 years ago today was the last performance at Drury Lane. It was also the last night of the theatre before it closed for its refurbishment.

Just spent a very lovely couple of hours watching it and remembering the TheatreBoard “lore” that went down back then. Including the front row cheap tix that were so popular and tales of “solid gold tap shoes” and the red “mink” coat 🤭🤭
