Glenda Jackson not getting nominated is stunning! It's a disgrace. Tony scum. I'm all for Annette Bening now but I think Elaine May might sneak it.

Did the nominators see a different Beetlejuice then I did? I’m shocked Beetlejuice got so much love, it’s not a good show!

I'm also really surprised at the lack of Be More Chill, which I thought would do better than just ONE nomination. I'm low-key thrilled and shocked by Beetlejuice though, especially as Leslie Kritzer has got nominated at every awards show thus far when only the sets and costumes had been getting any love, and now everything but her have been nominated.
Also, I won't get into how gutted I am for Pretty Woman, but I suppose it's still doing great at the box office so I can't be too sad. 😂

Well I got 64.3% right. Mockingbird and Glenda Jackson are the most surprising omissions for sure.

Ain’t Too Proud seems to become a sleeper hit, it could pull an upset by winning Best musical.
Mockingbird not being nominated is a surprise but Network wasn’t nominated either

I'm just saying, they're going to need to make that stage wheelchair-accessible before June.

Glenda Jackson not getting nominated is stunning! Not so stunning. The production was panned by critics and theater-goers alike, and although some critics felt obliged to say that Jackson was good, most didn't bother. Elaine May is the winner in that category.

I'm just saying, they're going to need to make that stage wheelchair-accessible before June. it's an interesting question isn't it? Ali Stroker and Amber Grey are presumed to be the front runners, so what do they do? will the front of the stage be wheelchair accessible (in which case, that'll be a steep ramp to get up there!), or do they do the Oklahoma performance and have her catagory directly after ala Kristin Chenoweth, then she is already backstage and can just come on from the wings?

That nomination 'ceremony' was shameful. I didn't think anything could beat the toe curling Oscar one earlier in the year but this was dreadful. It was like three embarrassed local nobodies calling the bingo numbers in a church hall. Come on, these are the awards for glitzy Broadway, you know the date and time in advance, put a bit of effort in, at least the Oscar one is crack of dawn so a little leeway can be given.
Gayle King looked like she hardly knew her own name let alone what a 'Broadway' was and that not heard call back to the studio at the end, cringe worthy. Bebe Neuwirth and Brandon Victor Dixon looked like they'd rather be queuing up at the STI clinic than be where they were. Why did they stop off after doing 8 categories, totally disrespectful to all the other nominees. And why did Gayle King keep coming forward like a terminally awkward MC to say 'best actress' then step away, come back, 'best actor'.
I've yet to process the nominees as I had to take the dogs out and I just can't believe how crap that was

Probably the latter as that doesn't require them to actually make any effort on accessibility... And the worst thing is it won't seem strange if that is what they do as she wouldn't be the first. Adrienne Warren was also backstage when her category was announced a couple of years ago.

Surprised to see all the love for Ain’t Too Proud. I kinda wish I’d seen it now, although it seems it may be one of those shows we eventually get in London.
Pleased that Kong was nominated for some of the technical categories - they are well deserved.
Best Actress in a Musical has Stephanie’s name on it already.

Shocked - SHOCKED! - to see that Mr. Reeve Carney's four co-stars in Hadestown are all nominated, and he isn't.
Oh, wait. I saw the show. No I'm not.

Ha! I noticed that. I thought he was the best one of the main five myself. It's not like Eva Noblezada really deserves a nomination either to be fair . .

Amber, Andre and Patrick were all obvious nominees. Excellent. I have to say I'm surprised Eva was nominated. She was just fine and I cannot fault her performance, but I'm not sure her performance warrants a nomination for the highest degree in theatre excellence. Reeve Carney is shockingly bad, and I am shocked he was not fired since Canada, let alone transfer the show to London and Broadway.
Queen SJB will win it because everyone wants to give it to her. She's generally fantastic but she is straight up drag show in the CC.
Why is Lili Cooper in any category to begin with? Quite an average performance in a really badly written role. And why is she in the supporting category? Her part is obviously the lead female role in that show. The real Supporting Actress in a Musical race is between Ali Stoker, Amber Grey and Sarah Stiles. Amber and Sarah were absolutely stunning and both deserve it. I'm sure Ali is pretty good too. Mary Testa and Lili don't stand a chance.

also, Eva Noblezada is only 23 and already has two Tony nominations, both for Best Actress in a Musical. That's crazy, and must be some kind of record surely?
Stephanie will win and deservedly so. She's fabulous in the show and everyone loves her so there is a goodwill factor matched with it. We all want to see her up there with a Tony. *she should of won already for Falsettos but there you go*.

I love the story Stephanie tells about how lots of people think that she has already won a Tony for 'The Pirate Queen' way back when and she never corrects them.

do we think she would already have a Tony for Wicked had she indeed played the role instead of Idina originally?

VERY happy about Andy Grotelueschen. Wish I could see Bonnie Milligan on that nominees list.
That's all!

do we think she would already have a Tony for Wicked had she indeed played the role instead of Idina originally? Without a doubt. If Idina could win one for the role SJB would have done too, especially as she was a well regarded Elphaba when she did get around to play it. Anyone know why they replaced her with Idina after she'd played Elphaba in all the workshops with Kristin Chenoweth?

I think one of the reasons was because Idina was a Tony-nominee for Rent, I think they just decided that Idina was more of an experienced actress at that time.
