I was sceptical about them coming back, even just via the recording studio but - based on what we've heard with these first two songs - they've lost nothing at all. The melodies are as good as ever, the production as usual is deceptively simple but complex in its beauty - and the ladies sound terrific.

The 2 tracks released so far were recorded in 2018, the remainder over the last year or so when it was decided to do the album.

It is wonderful to have Abba back. Benny & Bjorn have continued to write many many amazing songs since the early 80s, many of which I consider to be the equal of anything Abba recorded, so for me this is just the latest in a very long and ongoing story, but it still sends a shiver down my spine!
There's something a bit weird about the concert thing, though. I understand why it's not a tour, if that was considered too complicated, but is there really a big enough market to sustain a static show in a 3000 seat arena for any lengthy of time? Certainly they're one of the very biggest bands of all time, and certainly London is the place to do it if anywhere is, but a hell of a lot of people won't find it practical to travel to London from across the world. If I was an Australian who'd been looking forward to the tour, for example, I'd be feeling pretty frustrated right now! Luckily I'm in London, so I'm not complaining. However, I don't expect it to be half as good as when Benny played Hampstead Heath for free about ten or fifteen years ago! can't wait for the album, though...

As a life-long ABBA fan and and Australian, I consider myself so lucky to not only be living in London and to be able to attend this event. Doesn't matter the cost of the tickets, ABBA can have my money!

It was nice of Benny and Bjorn to reminisce about that Sydney concert, anthony40. It's almost like they read TB! Shame the Orbit wasn't given a fresh coat of paint before being broadcast to an audience of billions. 🙂

Doesn't matter the cost of the tickets, ABBA can have my money! The concert must have cost a fortune to mount as it has been in the works for so long and hundreds working on it, plus the cost of the Arena. Can't wait though.

With the new album and the Voyage concert, I wonder if the band might finally be persuaded to agree to a biopic being made?

Not till they're all dead would be their unanimous response!

With the new album and the Voyage concert, I wonder if the band might finally be persuaded to agree to a biopic being made? I can’t see it - the story of ABBA isn’t a happy one is it? Surely that would make it a more interesting story? 90 minutes of four people all getting along nicely would be a bit dull. There's plenty of incident. Frida's life story could fill a mini series on its own; and Agnetha has had her share of emotional ups and downs too. And actually there's a pretty satisfying story arc - especially now. 2 young couples fall in love, marry, then divorce, and after 40 years they reunite as friends and bathe in global adoration. But I certainly can't see it happening during their lifetimes. They're far too private for that. And without the official seal of approval, any film wouldn't be allowed to use any of their music. And apart from anything else, what do you do about the accents? Cast Swedish actors and subtitle it, which would limit its commercial appeal? Have them speaking English but in Swedish accents which would inevitably make it sound comic, or give them generic English/American accents which would lack verisimilitude?

“Just a notion” now released. A fun uptempo number unreleased from 1978.

Quite a nice dancy song, or in my case moving head from side to side in time to the music.

Not as good as the two already released, but then again Don't Shut Me Down took a few listens for me to love it.

This one interview has already spawned articles and headlines in papers world-wide since it's online release midweek.
With journalist Alexis Petridis who is the guardian music writer and it's shows in an insightful and informative article which Benny and Bjorn have responded to the more music based approach.
As for sales, with universal their UK record company reporting the highest ever preorder volumes after a week, and the worldwide resurgence in sales and streaming of all the back catalogue I should imagine they are pretty happy with how things are.
Along with the arena adding another three months of performance and the over whelming and positive response to the September 2nd announcements it's a remarkable achievement and one shared worldwide.

The voyage has begun early it seems some CDs and vinyl is being sent out and some pictures of the actual items are popping up on the web so chance we get to hear the new music soon.
Seems there is a sticker on the front of the items to remind people that it's the first ABBA studio album for 40 years which is leading to a lot of web comments that most fans were at school when the last studio LP came out, and a whole generation of fans for whom this will be the first studio ABBA album to be released in their lifetime.
Still getting over the fact instead of just getting the black vinyl album from Woolworths I seem to have ordered several coloured vinyl versions, picture discs, cds in different covers and in a rash moment a cassette version. The wonders of this time having a credit card and not having to ask dad for an advance on pocket money!
Now just need to hope someone buys me a record player and cassette player for Christmas.

Beginning to get way more hyped up and excited for this album release and hearing new ABBA music than I expected to be.
Very distracting especially since they have just released the new trailer for the next ticket release.
Very short but stunning, showing the Abbatars in the lightsuits and then a tiny glimpse of them in new costumes and performing with an amazing light show and effects. With the live band playing, the lighting and purpose built arena designed to fully immerse the audience in the show this really is looking to be an amazing event.
Using phone and cannot add link it seems but we'll worth checking YouTube clip under ABBA voyage

I was going to wait for the CD but I couldn't resist, I listened to the album on YouTube. Glorious. Benny and Bjorn have still got it. I adore their Christmas song Little Things, that will become a festive favourite.
