I was at the show this afternoon, Marisha announced on her twitter in the interval so maybe she only just got the date confirmed! Sarah O’Connor on as Jenna and I thought she was excellent. I really liked Joe Sugg too, for all there has been criticism he really does fit the role well.

Sounds like there's going to be lots of change at Waitress in the next few weeks/months then.
Wonder who's coming in...

Loads of tweens in tonight being loud & looking very excited and now I realise why. Joe Sugg is hosting the cast karaoke after this evenings show with Marisha. That’s very nice for said tweens but I am hoping they behave during the show - they are everywhere, it’s like an invasion. Sarah is on as Jenna so I’m looking forward to seeing her. And please not Sheridan to replace Marisha . I don’t think the role of Becky requires constant winking and gurning at the audience. She’s a talented performer but not for me I’m afraid.

Ok so fair play to the tweens - or Sugglets as I’m going to call them. They were impeccably behaved throughout tonight’s show and at the Karaoke afterwards . Carrie Hope Fletcher fans (or Fletcheroonies as I’m going to call them) take note,
I’ve seen waitress a few times this year but this was my first time seeing the new Ogie, new Earl and new old Joe. Also first time seeing Sarah as Jenna. For those that are interested my thoughts are as follows:
New old Joe - a great addition to the cast, very touching performance. He made Joe more likeable, he’s obviously a veteran actor and delivered the lines in a totally new way, getting more laughs and, as a side note, also playing down the miscarriage line, which I thought was far more appropriate.
New Earl - didn’t play it as mean as Peter Hannah did. He was fine but for me, I really missed the crazy intensity of Peters performance. New Earl was just too damn nIce.
New Ogie - I’ve seen all 3 Ogies and I’m not a Joe Sugg fangirl, but I have to say Joe was the best Ogie by far that’ I’ve seen. Great comic movement, nailed the accent and his singing was surprisingly really really good, no bum notes and lots of comic nuances added for extra laughs. Thoroughly well deserved casting and Joe is holding his own amongst experienced west end performers.
Sarah as Jenna - WOW. I’d heard Sarah was good but I didn’t think I’d like her performance as much as I do Lucie. I was wrong, Sarah was EPIC and I adored her portrayal of Jenna. The best I’ve seen and her acting and singing were both AMAZING, different to Lucie and good in a different way - more emotional and believable as Jenna to me. I still love Lucie though.
Cast karaoke afterwards was fun, lots of the main cast stayed to watch and take part. A young lad called Tiago sang a brilliant version of what baking can do and both cast and audience went crazy. A special moment.
I love waitress, it makes my heart soar. Thanks to all the cast for yet another great performance.

It was my first time at the diner tonight and oh boy what a night. I didn’t realise I needed this show in my life until I walked out of the theatre. Every now and then I think a show comes into your life at the right time that just gives you that boost of positivity that we all need in our lives and tonight this was that show. A big thanks to @theatremonkey for the ticket offer I used. I managed to bag the “restricted” A33 Dress Circle seat of a bargain price of £20. I haven’t got any complaints about this seat or the view from it. The safety rail to the left of the seat offered minimal restriction and after a few minutes I even forgot it was there. I’d certainly recommend this seat if you can get a great deal for it in the future.
Apart from “SUTBM” I went in pretty cold with this production so I really didn’t know what to expect, but the whole night was just something special - a great cast (we had Sarah O’ Connor on tonight as Jenna who was just fantastic both in her acting and vocal. Her rendition of SUTBM was a joy to listen to), who I couldn’t fault at all. Marisha Wallace’s performance as Becky was just so spot on with her line delivery tonight (the comedy was spot on) and vocally, that was stunning. Laura Baldwin as Dawn really was just great fun. For the guys, David Hunter didn’t disappoint and as for Joe Sugg, he really did surprise me. A really confident performance who for me was a great Ogie both in his portrayal which was really quite endearing and even the vocal which certainly wasn’t the strongest, but he didn’t disappoint. Thankfully, the audience tonight didn’t go crazy when he made his first appearance.
I thought having the band on stage worked really well in this show rather than having them in the pit. I think having them on stage and seeing them at work rather than having them hidden away just adds a little something extra to proceedings. I absolutely loved the score by Sara Bareilly, and it’s definitely one I will be revisiting in the future.
If having watching a great show wasn’t enough, I hadn’t realised that it was the karaoke night tonight. As I hadn’t anything else planned apart from getting back to my hotel, I decided to stick around for the proceedings. I was half expecting to be honest some really duff singers and maybe some good ones as a counterbalance. What we got was 30 minutes of some insanely talented people belting these great songs. I was just sat there in the stall seats just stunned at the talent levels on display. Some of these must have only been teenagers, but boy could they sing. This really did cap a top night out at the theatre.
As an aside, the apple pie I bought pre show was very nice as well!

Ahhhh I’m super sad Marisha is leaving Waitress so soon .... she’s been such an asset to the show. Def gonna try and go to her last show on the 10th! Interested to see what else she has lined up, and whether she says in London long term or heads back to the states!
This isn’t a criticism, just an observation, but it’s def surprising to me how many of the OGs have left or are leaving soon, when the show is still only 7 months into its run. Kat and Jack were always only gonna do a 4/5 month stint but Peter (Earl), Nicole (ensemble), Marisha, Kelly (Nurse Norma) and Stephen (Cal) have or will be leaving soon also!

Could be completely wrong here, but Marisha has been commenting etc on Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow's insta lately. She wouldn't make a bad Catherine of Aragon, Jaye'J hasn't announced her leaving date though...

Auditions have been happening recently with contracts from Nov 2019 - Nov 2020 so I guess either they’re keeping their fingers crossed or they do plan to extend, just a bit at a time!

Seeing as Marisha leaves in just over a week and we still have no replacement announced I guess that means that Kelly or Charlotte might be temporarily taking over Becky? Of course Kelly’s days with the show are numbered anyway now because of Les Mis.

This wasnt for me. I havent booked for this previously because it didnt appeal to me, but for £25 i thought I'd give it a go.
The band were too loud and many of the lyrics i couldnt make out. The songs did nothing for me, but Lucie Jones has a great voice and good in her solo numbers. The character of Dawn was just annoying and barely understood what she said in her solo number. Some of it was played so broadly that i felt it didnt know what tone it was going for. i wasnt keen on the staging either... i left at the interval.
Trust your instincts!

Of course Kelly’s days with the show are numbered anyway now because of Les Mis. I don’t know what her initial contract was, but I wonder if they were expecting Marisha to extend and ultimately she didn’t, so they’re struggling to get a quick replacement in. I haven’t seen Charlotte as Becky, only Kelly. I thought she was good but I think she’s a stronger Nurse Norma. Any thoughts on who might be a good Becky replacement?!

It’s a shame you didn’t stay for Act 2, because whilst I like both Acts, I do think Act 2 is stronger and more emotional, and you have the knockout SUTBM, which really is the highlight .... but I guess if you hated it you hated it 😆
