I really don't get why it might need an explanation though. I know people in fiction go a bundle for naming their children after dead relatives or lost heroes or giving them otherwise meaningful names, but people in real life very often give their children names that they just like the sound of and that don't have any sort of family history behind them. It's one thing to just not like the name Lulu, that's completely fair (and I'm with you), but it really does seem a bit weird to have an assumption that it has to have come from somewhere or mean something. Equally though, what's the harm in explaining it? I agree that in real life names often don't have any explanation (mine doesn't!), but this is fiction and so much else in this show and others is clearly deliberate, so why shouldn't the audience be curious as to why this completely random name was chosen rather than any other. It isn't rude to be curious...

I don't think there is any meaning behind Lulu other than that Jenna likes cute alliteration and quirky names and rhymes - it's how she creates the names for her pies.
She has 'Mermaid Marshmallow Pie," "In the dark, Dark Chocolate Pie," "Betrayed by my Eggs Pie," "A little wild, Wild Berry Pie" and "Everything's just peachy, Peachy Keen Pie."
She says she's going to name her, "little Lulu.. the Love of my Life," which is just so very Jenna. No explanation needed.
And renaming the diner makes sense when you think about it more - it was Joe's, he dies, leaving it to her. He acknowledges that she is behind the success of the diner - it's her pies that he comes for. He asks her to name a pie for him when he's gone, which she does.

Everyone seems to be missing the weirdest part - When an old man sings ‘take it from an old man’. That song (which storyline wise is slightly important but very weak) made me laugh! Isn’t that what got a lot of celebrities in trouble in the 80s?

www.jennaspiepalace.com is a fun site that takes named allusions to pies mentioned in the show and tries to realise them with real ingredients. The pie-names in the show are often metaphors for Jenna’s feelings at any given time and symbolise her emotions/feelings/thoughts at a given moment.

I'm sorry, it really wasn't intended to be!
d'James, no offence was intended. We're both just expressing an opinion.
Please explain how ‘Of course, she should have checked with you first’ is an opinion. OK, that was tagged on to my opinion. It was intended to be a light hearted josh, indicated by the wink emoji. I obviously misjudged the tone of my comment, and indeed your sense of humour. I’ve said I’m sorry. I’ve enjoyed jokey exchanges on this forum many times (we’ve interacted before, I’m sure - and I like and respect your thoughts on shows you’ve seen) and honestly didn’t think this little quip was out of line, clearly you disagree. It was not my intention to be “superior” or hurtful; indeed these sort of exchanges are the sort I feel I can make with a group of people I feel comfortable with and count as friends. I misjudged the tone and I can only apologise. Let’s get back to discussing Waitress.

Booking extended to 4 January 2020 and Laura returning on 12th August Has the show done significantly better with Ashley Roberts in it? Genuine question. I know it's difficult to tell and there are lots of variables (what with Katharine and Jack leaving, and then entering the summer period), but just wondering if the producers investment in stunt casting paid off.

I was genuinely wondering if Ashley Roberts had helped shift more tickets or not.

If they had to pay Laura a retainer and Ashley was likely on more than Laura was on then that is an outlay that extra ticket sales need to cover. But Lucie could well be on less than KMPF5 was and Jack probably had accommodation costs extra to what Blake has even if their pay is likely similar.

I know it's difficult to tell and there are lots of variables (what with Katharine and Jack leaving, and then entering the summer period), but just wondering if the producers investment in stunt casting paid off. It’s so hard to know when we don’t have any box office figures to go by like for Broadway. From looking at availability there seemed to be much more availability after Kat left and the tickets seemed to have reduced in price a bit as well. But then, like someone else said, recently it seems as though there are loads of tickets available and then it seems well sold the next day, so idk if that is comps or just more last minute sales with it being summer now and the tourist trade. As for Ashley, I really don’t know. The weird thing for me is that the chatter on twitter for her being in the shows is kinda non-existent. Like I haven’t seen many people talking about going to the show specifically to see Ashley, but then maybe that’s because the people who do are less likely to be avid theatre goers and less likely to tweet about it? So yeah idk. The fact that Laura’s now confirmed she’s back on August 12th (so a 8 week break) makes me wonder if Ashley’s stint hasn’t been that successful and they cut it short a couple weeks, because at Kat’s last show David def said she’d be gone 10 weeks. Laura’s not gonna increase sales but I’ll bet she’s a lot cheaper than Ashley. So so basically I have no idea 🤣

She has a strong voice but for me nothing about her fits the role and her overall performance was disappointing, to say the least, so I am only planning on returning when understudies are on. Thanks! I don't suppose anyone is selling 2 rush tix for tonight? 🙃

I had to re-watch the video multiple times to get it (despite the fact that I was there), I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding his accent

Thank you very much, I appreciate your response. Yes, I guess it's difficult to say what difference Ashley has made to ticket sales, given all the different factors. And even more difficult when they don't report box office figures.
I don't really follow the Waitress chat on Twitter, but there was nothing significant posted here, so didn't know if Ashley had brought any sort of extra buzz to the show. But from what I've seen, there seemed to have been more negative chat about Laura being replaced, than positive chat about Ashley replacing her (although I realise that's from fans of the show, and not the general public).
TodayTix have some good deals for the coming week, and I was going to book row B centre stalls for £35, but I've decided to wait until Laura returns.

Thank you, that is what I thought. Certainly no significant boost in sales then, from what it would appear.
Lol at KMPF5.
